At least for people from central America, why is it so different from the Jews, Irish, Italians, Chinese, and Eastern Europeans who streamed in pre WW2?
Cajun trolling aside, I don’t see a meaningful distinction. Both are groups of people that can’t support themselves where they are born coming here for jobs. They come here with almost no material wealth, very little English and marginal skills. Almost all are in fact processed in some capacity. Their kids almost always speak English and act American.
you are trolling right? their kids act american? oh you mean waving the mexican flag while protesting in the street?
so the ones coming from central america and mexico arent coming illegally? They are paying taxes and receiving no public benefits right? no school, no hospital, no roads nothing?
they dont control the majority of the drug smuggling networks? none right?
they arent trying to implement socialism either right?
they dont take over large parts of the cities and make them into slums either right?
and pre WW2 america is nothing like current day america. not even close. one was immigration that helped build a superpower, the other is trying to come here and fundamentally change america into the shithole they came from
the exceptions seem to be Cubans and then the Venezuelans that were under the communist regime there, mainly those that are educated and that worked in oil down there.
you cant be serious with this bullshite

Yes. Overwhelmingly they do. Your feelings aren’t facts.

How is this different from pre WW2 immigration? Did those immigrants not use schools, and hospitals and roads?

15 million or however many illegals from Central America don’t control drug smuggling networks. The people now being detained and deported aren’t drug smugglers. This is scrape goating immigrants exactly how was done pre WWII

How is this different from pre WW2 immigration and believes around Chinese immigrants and eastern euros?

You are describing pre WW2 tenement housing? Or something new and different?

Immigration gets none of the credit for our continued economic growth since 1980 but a lot of the credit for pre WW2 growth?
People absolutely hated the Irish, and Italians, and Jews, and Cajuns, and Eastern Europeans, and especially, especially the subhuman Chinese. This story is the same as it ever was.

Yes, it’s an invasion of parasites that rarely assimilate into US culture.

were these coming illegally? pretty sure most went through ellis island and new orleans

they are here illegally you dumbass. just them being here drives the cost of goods up, insurance up, housing up

again not here illegally

1) we have more than enough people in this country currently
2) we didnt have 25-50 million illegals(thats low end estimates) driving up the cost of everything we are paying for
3) there were no social safety nets like now, no gov loans
4) just this week a huge h1b visa scam and diploma mill was discovered in india
5) for the most part those people were not here illegally
6) they came from European countries with shared values of existing americans
7) immigrants did not drive the economic boom since the 80s. fricking stupid to think that. its been tech and outlandish gov spending
8) the US was not the established economic superpower at that time and yes the illegals were taking lower paying jobs and people were pissed for good reason then for undercutting the market
9) there was limited gov spending and most importantly limited taxes to pay for the services the illegals are getting for free
10) and i say this with all due respect....GO frick YOURSELF IF YOU DONT WANT TO DEPORT ALL OF THEM!!
Go home and try again legally.
go frick yourself and anyone that is not for stopping h1b and deporting them all and that includes elon and trump. frick them, frick you and everyone else that may be against it.

And thing is it would crash the economy if we removed all 100 million. We waited too long to fix this
It started a long time ago. The Muslims started immigrating to Dearborn in the 1920s. Ramped up after immigration act of 1965. The slow death of this country started before most of us were born.
The best we can hope is to get rid of criminals, leeches, and the Muslims and hope the rest assimilate ok
We are living in the best time in human history to have a smaller population.
Productivity per person is about to go up by some large multiple because of AI and eventually robotics powered by AI. Countries like Japan and unfortunately China with demographic issues actually might be having them at the correct time in history.
On the other hand countries like us who imported millions who don't speak the language and have no other skills besides being a warm body that can somewhat follow directions will have those people (or their kids and grandkids more likely) on the government tit forever.

900K naturalized the past year vs 1.4 million forced deportations
Can I ask where you go these numbers or is this Mullin saying that?
Because there are no 2025 numbers yet.
We naturalized 818,500 in 2024.
Oh okay. I got it. He was just using a rounded number saying we still have legal immigration and gave this number as an example of still having legal immigration.
This is not a gotcha at all. Posters are just retarded. He was defending deportations.
So, we are naturalizing people just like we always have but curbing illegal immigration.

you can take your fatass out there and do the work...oh wait you said you were just barrel chested but we saw the pics...your fatass can get out there and do the work
it wouldnt collapse shite. it would self correct within 6 months.

need to be curbing both
H1B visa abuse is real
and we need to tax remittance to home country at 95%

If you want to get rid of H1b that will take congress.
Crying about trump won't actually change h1bs. You guys need to start voting in different reps.

It doesn't help that our voting system has been rigged for years.

Okay but what Mullin is saying is in defense of ice raids.
And I agree, get rid of h1b and tax remittances.
My argument is not against these things; it's towards posters who have no idea what the frick they are talking about. They think Trump can just end visas. The posters here are the ones with the power to vote. Trump can't vote for congress in Louisiana. The people of Louisiana need to vote for folks that want to end visas.

Well my rep is steve scalise. Never heard him talk about ending visas. So we should vote him out.
You are just using excuses now.
I didn't vote for Scalise last time because I'm tired of republicans doing nothing about immigration and politicians making a career out of doing nothing.
Instead of downvoting maybe the poster wants to explain why I'm wrong. H1bs were signed into law. We have separation of powers. It is the same as people crying over Trump not arresting people. The president can't arrest anyone.

The share of immigrants as a percentage of the population is basically the same as it was from 1860-1940
Most every study shows immigrates pay more into the system then they take away, as immigrants are ineligible for almost all federal assistance.
quote:
they came from European countries with shared values of existing americans
This just sounds like racism. What were the shared values between a Lithuanian Jew, an Italian, an Irishman, and an American in 1930? You think they had more in common than a Mexican and an American in 2026? We’ve never been so culturally aligned with our immigrants.
quote:
) immigrants did not drive the economic boom since the 80s. fricking stupid to think that. its been tech and outlandish gov spending
Immigrants start more companies, accrue wealth, accrue education, and commit more crimes than Americans. They are a huge, huge part of our economic success.
And blaming immigrants for our government spending problem or American’s proclivity for drugs is ridiculous.
quote:
GO frick YOURSELF IF YOU DONT WANT TO DEPORT ALL OF THEM!!
I don’t. It would be really bad for our country.

We have an economic system that requires endless growth to thrive. It is what it is.

No, we don't. It's the popular Chamber of Commerce narrative, but it's untrue.
Moreover, even if you buy into that fallacy - it matters how (or with whom) we're growing the population.

Which of those groups received stacks of cash from the government upon arrival?
Your “history” is blatantly false.
Your false equivalency is…

He has upheld some promises and broken others. Par for the course with most politicians. Sadly there wasn't a better option.

It will be fine. The hardest part is over. The public accepting it will be tough but necessary.
