Its a political hand grenade. What politician is going to go after the veterans?
Simultaneously the most coddled and most fricked demographic there is. You've got guys who are warriors and guys who go in planning to come out the other side rated 100% and never intend to actually do a damn thing for their country, and everyone in between.
It's a nasty problem to look at for sure.

Yup. And the current rampant abuse is the result of the pendulum swing that happened when vets coming out of GWOT were getting fricked left and right by the system, so changes were made. The good news is that this helped these man/women get the help they needed. The bad news is it made it MUCH easier for fraud.

Is there any posts of that "veteran" where he says he got it all from the VA?
Umm yeah the picture in the OP from ebenefits where it shows his rating and monthly payment from the VA.

Most of the Vets I work with offshore are actively trying to get 100% VA disability.
My BIL worked a desk job within the MIL and has 100% disability.

Whites too. My brother is one of them. People will hide this behind the moral armor but this is an issue that no one will address

I stand corrected, Thank you

I know a guy who got a couple purple hearts in Iraq and he gets about $6k a month from what i remember. Two bullets for the first one and some shrapnel for the second. No sane human would disagree that his country owes him a great debt. Same for his friends who were injured or killed in duty or training. My friends' coverage is a lot better than my grandfather's compensation for losing some fingers in Korea, which i believe was a few hunder dollars a month. I will say that he was well cared for by the VA in his last years of failing health.
Something should happen. The system is definitely being abused as a welfare program. Its doing far too much for some and not enough for others.

For sure… but I think the whites do a better job of at least pretending to hide it / not brag about it

Idk what his injuries are but my BIL retired after 23 years of being a navy pilot. 23 years of landing in aircraft carriers....lots of issues come with that. He got 100% disability but runs 6 miles a day. I guess he could just collect a check and get fat but that isn't how he is.
Seems like he can also work.

No, you just stop working apparently.

75k a year net is like 250k a year picking taxes
For a single, unmarried taxpayer earning $250,000 in California (the state with the highest marginal income tax rate of 13.3%), the estimated net income is approximately $156,269. This assumes standard deductions, the standard California rate, and includes federal income tax, state income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and State Disability Insurance (SDI).

Everyone I know who is 100% also works a real job. Ironically the only one I know who does a physical outdoors job is the one who got busted up twice.
Hes an ex rodeo dude though, those guys arent wired quite right.

I had an urgent care patient in his 20's, signed in for "training injury- hurt ribs ", but in the room he told me he and "his boys" had been drinking all day on Saturday, then started playing "front yard football and we got rough" .... he said he was fine, just had a bruise on his ribs, but wanted an xray and documentation because he was "stacking his file for his percentage ".. told him I don't know what that means, so he explained the whole scam to me like we were cool. I ordered an xray then charted our entire conversation about the scam for his "file".

Most retirees do. I know it is hard to believe, but it is true.
