I have never, NEVER, heard of someone getting that much from the VA. The most I believe can be collected is $4400 and thats 100%, married with the max amount of dependants.
I could be wrong but that doesnt seem correct.

To get that payment from the va he would have to be on the SMC schedule. I know 3 people who have that, and they deffinatley earned it.
One of them works a full time job, and all you would notice is a limp. Then if you get to know him you'll find out he is missing a foot on one leg, and the other he lost above the knee.
Add in his tbi from the blast and that's how you get into that group.
He was 27 when he got hit and I think gets 9-10 thousand a month in total.
And rightfully so.
Not sure whats wrong or "claimed to be wrong" with this guy.

It's like any other group in the planet--bad apples along with good ones. Idk the particulars here but it doesn't diminish the sacrifices many make.

You are incorrect.
There are different levels above 100% referred to as schedules for special monthly compensation. They can go all the way up to 10k. At that level it’s usually a loss of limbs, blindness, terminal illness, etc but starts with something as simple as needing a care taker. Many veterans also get extra money if they’re prescribed viagra.

I would venture to guess he was medically retired, so that will come from the Army. Then he got 100% from the VA. Two different pay pools.
And yes, the abuse is fricking rampant. And I say that as a vet with 30%. It also tends to be generational/family based, which I saw personally as a commander. Kid in my unit was taught exactly what to do and say by his father and brother who were "vets" and both 100% with only one enlistment under their belt. Hell at least this dipshit had a deployment to Afghanistan, his brother and father never left the US.
Everyone knew what this kid was doing, and paperwork was filed left and right to document it. Didn't matter though.

My recommendation to all young men in high school is to enlist in the US Army, but with a guaranteed slot for assignment in the Infantry of the 82nd Airborne Division. By the time you have 20 years active duty service, you'll be a valuable asset to any civilian organization around.

It has to be a higher SMC level as it’s paid through VA.
A severance is only paid for med board DOD rating of less than 30%. (If someone is med board they get two ratings VA & DOD, DOD rating is for either severance or retirement). Severance is paid out in a lump sum on final paycheck. Also CRSC and retirement are paid through DFAS.

Is there any posts of that "veteran" where he says he got it all from the VA? I was just going off the assumption of a medical retirement (not severance like you mentioned) on top of the VA rating, which obviously in combination would bring him up to the amount he was claiming he's getting a month, which of course is well over even a standard 100% rating from the VA.
I'm not super familiar with the medical retirement side of the house though.

I'll preface this by saying I served 8 years. This is one of the biggest frauds in the US right now. It's disgusting what these vets are doing. If you're 100% disabled you can't work for ExxonMobil or Shell. I had a family member who got 100% but had to go to a war veterans nursing home facility. They 100% took care of him every day and still sent his check every month. The entire process is disheartening to me. Of course there are a lot of vets that need this. But those that don't taint the pool.
