The only thing more embarrassing than these cops’ behavior is those defending it.

I'd like to hear the real reason that military officer didn't follow police instruction, and get out of his truck to begin with.
I'd hate to think that a Lt.in military uniform didn't have enough intelligence to do what the police told him to begin with. Something's not right about this!

Woe is me. I such the victim! They wouldn’t let me comply.
The cop that lost his temper isn’t any better though. He should know by now that he will be dealing with the dregs on society for the rest of he career

How many were justified?
Can't take the justified stats seriously when shootings like Daniel Shaver and Philando Castille were ruled justified.
Stats from the US government about how many citizens were killed by government agents are about as reliable as China's Corona death numbers.

Even with thousands of stops and interactions per day we still get a video where the driver is obviously trying his best to not comply but still remain the victim. Childish really
If that was what you got from the video I can't even take you seriously.
You think it's ok for paid public servants to tell citizens they should be afraid to get out of the car?
You thinks it's ok for paid public servants to feign fear in order to justify spraying an man with his hands visibly out the window with pepper spray.
Based on the actions of these officers I would say the LTs fear was justified.
2 low iq officers, 1 morbidly obese with a propensity to escalate to violence.

My first thought was "a-hole cops". Then I got to this part....
It's such a load of bullshite that I don't even care to watch the videos and see who was in the wrong. I just want the reporter to die.

At one point, Gutierrez told Nazario he was “fixin’ to ride the lightning,” a reference to the electric chair which was also a line from the movie “The Green Mile,” a film about a Black man facing execution.

Power trip.
Most of them got stuffed in lockers in HS from what I can tell.

Before today, if someone were to have said that I was about to “ride the lightning” I would not have had the slightest idea what he was babbling about. I suspect that Nazario experienced much the same confusion.
So, I ran a search. The results were split about evenly between (1) execution by electrocution and (2) a Metallica song... about execution by electrocution.
No references AT ALL to tasers.

What was recorded ini that video is inexcusable - or it would take a lot of explaining to justify it.
I see nothing from the body cam that justified the treatment - it would be good to know what the basis of the stop was - unless the occupant had been identified as some kind of rabid terrorist who had been seen perpetrating/preparing some vicious attack.
Lacking that - the officers should be seriously sanctioned - loss of job at absolute minimum.

Nope. I most definitely didn’t say that. There are no winners in this vid. Cop lost his temper and escalated unnecessarily.
“Look mom, I’m the victim” LT isn’t any better

MY question is “how far did he drive looking for a lighted area” after the cop signaled him? A couple of minutes or 40 miles?

I guess we will agree that “officer pepper spray” was way out of line.
But I’m not falling for the atrocious “woe is me” acting job from the LT. it’s was like watching a soccer player take a dive. Nobody buys that bullshite

Both those dudes should be fired. They escalated that to an unreasonable level.
The guy was calm and explained he was afraid to get out and I'm assuming afraid to reach anywhere below the window to unlock the door or take his seat belt off.

He prevented them from getting him out of the car when the younger cop tried to open the door. Even when the one cop got out the pepper spray he didn’t get out.

EDIT<============>
Found the civil Complaint.
quote:
On or around December 5, 2020, at approximately 18:34, Defendant Crocker initiated a traffic stop of Lt. Nazario on US 460 westbound in the Town of Windsor, near the Food Lion, where the speed limit is 35 miles per hour, by activating his emergency lights. ... Within seconds, Lt. Nazario submitted to Defendant Crocker’s display of authority and began to slow down. Lt. Nazario also activated his turn signal, to signal his compliance with Crocker’s implied directive to pull over. Crocker admits in real time that Lt. Nazario was complying, by relaying to dispatch that Lt. Nazario was slowing down. ... It was dark, however, and it appeared to Lt. Nazario that there was no good location in the immediate vicinity to stop safely. ... Lt. Nazario continued slowly down US 460, below the posted speed limit, for a less than under a mile, until he spotted a well-lighted BP gas station. He pulled over in the parking lot.

The chubby fellow definitely has no business being a police officer. Regardless of the circumstances he didn’t handle that well at all. There was no reason for him to behave that way.

Perhaps the better question is, why should a police officer assume someone traveling at a low rate of speed who does eventually pull over is trying to evade them just because they passed a possible area to stop previously?
Generally speaking, people trying to get away from the cops or are planning on resisting arrest aren’t traveling 20 MPH and eventually stop of their own volition. There’s a big difference between someone who could have stopped sooner and someone trying to avoid getting stopped at all.
The cops were unjustifiably aggressive from the start because they made an unfounded and frankly illogical assumption. They treated that man as if he had just led them on a high speed chase and only stopped because his tire blew out.

Pure nonsense. This is clearly a reference to being tased. The phrase "ride the lightning" did not originate with "The Green Mile" and any attempt to pretend otherwise is ridiculous.
Yeah I always thought that was getting drunk off moonshine.
But I guess it's in reference to the electric chair. But then again the cop might have just meant the taser.
