Not me directly, but my son is deployed Louisiana NG. His paychecks are delayed for now and he will get backpay after they pass a budget. He is a good saver/investor with a rainy day fund, so it won't cause true hardship and I wouldn't let it. It would be rough for a soldier that was stretched financially.

Pizza Hut didn't put jalapeños on my pizza. I'm pretty bummed.

Thanks Trump!

Not one thing in my life has been affected, so I'm struggling to be empathetic

I've always agreed with Charlie Kirk on what he said about empathy. It takes too much energy to try and imagine myself in another's situation, especially when we're all emotionally and psychologically very different. If I haven't actually been in the exact situation someone is in, and I know for a fact that this person is close to exactly like me, then empathy is a waste of time.

I sympathize with those affected, sure. But I've never relied on government money to sustain me, so I cannot pretend to understand it. But I mainly sympathize with them because it is their own employer, the US Government (mainly Congress) that has failed them and caused this shutdown, because they continue to bicker over pork packages in omnibus bills and continuing resolutions instead of just doing their priority job of passing a yearly balanced budget... which I might add that they haven't done one single time since 1996.

I assume my kids GI bill benefits wont come through at the end of the month if this crap is still going on. That is how she pays her rent while in college.

Yes, I'm a tragic victim of the shutdown. Every morning when I turn on my computer, one of the first web pages I look at is NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day. It hasn't been updated since the shutdown began.

I haven’t slept since the shutdown. I’m just distraught over it.

Me and some friends are supposed to be kayaking through Big Bend in a few weeks. Can’t get a permit now. Oh well. We can find somewhere else IF it keeps going.

The flight I'm currently on was delayed one hour.

I'm not sure I can recover from this.

Can't take my kid to DC for his birthday trip. That kinda sucks because he was pretty excited about it.

I’m not getting a paycheck but I’ve been saving for years as well as getting my AF retirement pay so I’ll be just fine for the duration.

You nailed it.

If people focused more of their anger and need for change on Congress and tried to get them to do their fricking job for the first time in a long time...rather than the president issuing a bunch of EOs, we wouldn't have these continual issues...and the system of checks and balances would be ultimately better for it.

Instead we fight over Presidents and the judicial branch. The legislative branch are the retards cozying up to the lobbyist to the detriment of our country
