Trump should charge European countries the cost of the munitions if retaliatory strikes happen because their shipping was attacked.

Side Note: the DEFAULT should be this. If attacked in international waters deadly force should be automatic. The degree/breadth of force applied should be the only variable.

Good. A demonstration of strike capability is in order.

I'd like to see some real pressure here. These whackos are demanding attention by firing missiles at passing commercial vessels.

If we want the world to continue using the dollar as worlds reserve currency we need to have the best navy in the world and we will have to keep all shipping lanes open.

That sounds reasonable, but do we really need to patrol the Red Sea? I'm not sure how my quality of life would suffer if we didn't.

That's an absolutely valid point.

To play the Devil's Advocate, there are some disadvantages to the dollar being the world's reserve currency. A strong dollar disproportionately benefits Wall Street and any person or entity with capital. A weaker dollar would stimulate exports and with it US jobs. About 12 percent of the US economy is from foreign trade, the vast bulk of that with Canada, Mexico and China. A large portion of our impers can be sourced or manufactured here in the US.

Americans now have trillions in credit card debit, car debt, student debt and mean income earners are having a harder and house debt. Wages haven't kept up with inflation or GDP. Then ee economy favors capital and favors scale.

A large U.S. trade deficit is a major obstacle to increasing employment and sustainable economic growth in the United States.

I'm not an economist, but I think for many Americans, in the long run at least, a weaker dollar would be beneficial.

That’s right. Now think about that. In your experience, does labor get exported by poorer people to richer people or by richer people to poorer people? Right now we are the richer people. In the world for which you are pining we’d be the…..?

About time.

Btw, this is how this is done.

You take the fight straight to them, blow them to shite, then come home.

You don't stay and rebuild their country.

Let them figure out what happened and learn from it.

I like the action and the mission is good. But Trump just can’t help himself with his pathological need to always say objectively dumb and false stuff to prop himself up.
