Data centers should paint the Ukrainian, pride and Palestinian flag on their roofs, problem solved
throw in Black Lives Matter stuff too

None of that points to data centers being unnecessary or "evil". Just as every technological progress before it, there are side effects, and humans will, over time, come up with solutions to mitigating them.

What do you think telephone switching centers are? Data centers full of almost only networking equipment. The NYC AT&T switching center is 21 floors tall and was built in 1964, preceding cell phones and almost color tv. MAE EAST was built in 1992 as the first IXP (Internet Exchange Point,) etc.

Collecting a copy of every call and keystroke did not, and that is why data centers are being pushed.
JFC. Where do you think the mainframes of the 1950s were stored, in the mop closet?

Who did Trump give the Chip manufacturing?
China didn't coerce us into a war..

No this is just the new thing to cry about.
Might as well shut down all chemical plants.

AI is driving this. Phones and internet requirements were fine (mostly) before AI.
Which required data centers. And AI isn't new.

Those things preceded data centers.
First data centers were in the 40s.
They were scaled up all through the decades, mainframes, huge server stations for the dot com boom, and now huge data centers for cloud computing.
No different than the climate cult if you don't log off the Internet and through away your computers and phones.

If we don’t lead in AI and data we will be a 33rd world country in 10 years.

Sounds more like a scapegoat to me for the City’s poor maintenance.

Health and water supplies mean nothing to you? CCP is taking over without firing a shot...we'll destroy our land, water supplies and the health of our people and animals and burden them with higher bills to support these billionaires building on our taxes? Some say that chyna is building data centers but are they really or are they ghost data centers like many of their cities?...just to motivate us to destroy ourselves faster?

We can lead in AI/data with quality not thousands upon thousands of large building built on the backs of the taxpayers to have to live around them while causing health problems.

Stop believing the foreign propaganda…..first of all, data centers have been around for decades and there’s no data suggesting that they are harmful. It’s the same propaganda that stopped our nuclear program in the 70’s and the same propaganda that pushed the Green Agenda that is causing energy prices to skyrocket
"Foreign propaganda" wants us to overbuild massive data centers. There is massive data PROVING they are harmful and those that are benefiting the most are utility companies/temporary builders and big tech who is making the taxpayers pay for it all with their multi billion dollar tax abatements. They promise more than they can deliver just like corrupt politicians.

If the contractor would have disinfected the flush water with a little bleach or if the waste water treatment plant had done their job this wouldn't even be news.
There can be deadly bacteria from any wastewater plant and that's why you have mandatory disinfection. This is all something about nothing.
We need data centers. If they are properly engineered and located near a dependable power and water source they are no different than any industrial facility. Deadly bacteria. What a joke.

Aren’t the newer cooling systems closed loop anyway?

Millions of basement dwellers rely on AI to be their friend, the person they can privately converse with, and tell their darkest secrets to. I would imagine there are (or should be) built-in curbs that would prevent AI from affirming gender fluidity, trans positive feedback, but since Reddit is a primary source of data, I doubt it.
However, if it doesn't have those curbs or it doesn't report pedophilia incidents, murders or other crimes, like fraud of elderly, then it needs to go away.

This is reclaimed wastewater.
quote:
A reclaimed wastewater system purifies used water from homes, businesses, and industrial facilities so it can be reused.
Typical ApplicationsAgriculture: Widely used to irrigate crops, vineyards, and pastures.
Industrial & Commercial: Provides cooling water for power plants, water for car washes, and process water for refineries.
Urban: Utilized for golf course irrigation, public park landscaping, and fire suppression systems.
Residential: Dual-plumbing systems can route treated "greywater" for toilet flushing and outdoor watering
Several U.S. states recycle highly purified treated sewage (wastewater) into drinking water. Leading states include California, Colorado, Texas, Florida, Arizona, and Nevada. This practice is achieved through advanced purification, often categorised as either indirect potable reuse (where purified water is stored in nature first) or direct potable reuse (which sends purified water straight into the municipal supply)
Will or can it be purified correctly to be reused?

Where are they storing this collected water data? In a notebook?
