Watching tv on Hitlers Empire Post War Plan and they discussed a map allegedly from Germany showing them wanting to take and divide up South America and the Panama Canal. Roosevelt have a speech about it to turn America in favor of entering the war.
Turns out the map was made by English intelligence stationed at Rockefeller center and used as disinformation by Churchill who wanted the US to enter the war.
So…. Yeah, this is BS

If we have an active 3star over there then lord, buckle up.
What is more likely is that a retired 3-star, offered big money, was over there. If the money they are supposedly offering regular ex SF contractors is remotely true then his pay day may have made him jump.
For the record I think even that is unlikely. Not a 3 star.

In service, today. All in. Dude, how many 3-star generals do you think we had just in WWII? All the Corps commands were 3-star billets and they didn't have grade inflation that would plague later generations (and certainly the joint staffs have them multiplying like rabbits), but there were shite tons of general/flag officers in WWII.
There are currently 43 4-star billets (16 Army, 11 Air Force, 9 Navy, 2 USMC, 2 Space Force, 2 Coast Guard and 1 USPHS (somewhat famously or infamously, however you like, Rachel Levine)) and (I stand corrected) 163 (not 165) 3-star billets.

What if I told you that the U.S. military has become EXTREMELY top heavy and there are entire platoons of general/flag officers with no troops?
How many troops did the U.S. Ambassador to Libya have with him in Bengazi? Why did civilian contractors have to attempt to rescue him?
High level guys do hinky shite and try to keep a low profile. He has a security detail, of course, but that could be as low as half a dozen guys, if he is going to ostensibly friendly territory controlled by the Ukrainian military.
Like I said, I don't buy it without more corroboration, but if they were sending someone of this grade (O-9) on this mission in particular, it would almost certainly be Landrum (DCMC), Deedrick (USMILREP), Cloutier (LANDCOM) or Fletcher (NSHQ).
