I think we provided the stickers during Operation Provide Comfort 1&2.

It's not just that 50 it's what they stand for. Turkey could easily invade and overrun a company minus worth of dudes but the fallout would be so severe they wouldn't consider it.

The Turk Kara Kuvvelleri got their asses kicked the last time they advanded on the Kurds.

If we can’t pull out of this entanglement, which one will we ever be able to leave?

There will always be an argument for staying

Democrats would be pissed cause Trump would cut or stop sending money to Turkey.
Reason dems would be pissed is they would in turn lose their kickbacks from Turkey

Pulling out 50 troops that are not in direct danger (since Turkey wouldn’t attack) seems like virtue signaling to me. “We are not fighting wars!” These men were not fighting. They were a shield to the friendlies in Syria. We are just making even more enemies and getting tons of people who viewed us as allies killed.

I am fine with pulling out but there should have been a very blunt “we will frick you up if you attack the Kurds.” It is very apparent that did not happen. Those militant prisoners will end up getting free. It is going to happen.

I'm all for not being involved but the Kurds are about the only decent group in that part of the world and we continually screw them over by getting involved then backing out and leaving them high and dry.

They were being taken apart by ISIS before we stepped in. ISIS biggest gains initially was in Kurdish territory. They fled a small # of ISIS fighters and let a village of Yazidis to capture and slaughter, “for tactical reasons” They have also shot and killed women and kid Arabs in Syria. I started a thread several years ago about someone I’m close to who trained Kurds. Yes they are good fighters, but even he agrees and always has we shouldn’t be there

The Iraqi Kurds wouldn’t want anything to do with this.

And the Syrian Kurds wouldn’t want to leave.

it were up to me I'd use our leverage over Turkey to create a safe zone in Iraq Kurdistan and give the Kurds time to leave the contested area in Syria. Once that deadline passed anyone who stayed can't complain about a Turkish invasion since they had time to go to Iraq Kurdistan.

Sounds like a job for a United Nations blue helmet Security Force, not the Unilateral Responsibility of the USA.

UNLESS the USA is the de facto Global Police and Security Force, which you and I both know it, in reality, is indeed AND the USA will be fighting The Forever War -- forever.

The USA will NEVER withdraw its military forces from the Middle East never -- they will be there for at least the next 100 years. The big problem I have is this: many of my fellow Americans are just fine with that.

Dems on Twitter calling for Trump's head because he doesn't want U.S. involved in a senseless, never-ending war for people who would just as soon have the U.S. collapse in ruin, but are more than willing to let U.S. blood spill on their behalf.

Trump did the right thing.

The wrong thing was Graham and McCain working to get the U.S. involved in a Syrian conflict that was not in our national interests. Yes, he's a murderous dictator, but as long as he was staying in his own borders, minding his own country's business in his own country and nowhere else, we had no business jumping into his pool and pissing in it.

They are close to not being able to pay their light bill at the UN building. How they gonna' afford to send in a force?

When’s your flight to the Middle East bud? I figured with how hard you’re knighting for American blood to be spilled, I’m sure you’re gathering your gear and are about to head out to join the Kurds in their fight.

Ohhhh... waittttt a minute.... let me guess... you have an excuse huh?

More likely to happen to them there than here, no?

Let them go bankrupt just like the USA will one day go bankrupt.
