The lenses I view this current situation through is best described as follows, for me anyway: On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being we (Joe Q. Citizen on TDPT) know next to nothing as far as the most pertinent info necessary to understand the situation --- 10 being we have top security clearances and are privy to almost everything the President is privy to....we're at about a 2, maybe 3.

We're still free to use our 2 or 3 to come up with our conclusions, but I suspect our various conclusions are quite off the mark and bigly oversimplified.

They’ll continue to push us around, until we return fire.

But we can’t return fire, because we have troops stationed in Turkey, and they could easily become hostages.

Bad situation.

Agreed. Wonder how long it would take to evacuate Incirlik?

At this point we just need to get out of the way and leave. As humiliating as that is.

Joshua Landis wrote the other day that we’re blocking the Syrian attempts to cross the Euphrates.

Had there been any successful end in sight previously? Prior to any talk of troop withdrawal etc, as afflicted as this phrase became after GWB aircraft carrier thing, what would have constituted "mission accomplished"?

Love the anti-interventionist takes from fans of a president who is still sucking off the Saudis. Yemen really respects our lack of world-policing. Meanwhile we’re still in fricking Syria.

Yes. If we are leaving Syria we should leave now and let the Russians and Syrians blitz north to prevent Turkey from seizing more land. But now we are just sitting there preventing the Kurds from making a deal with Assad.

Apparently the Syrians have moved up to the outskirts of Manbij.

We’ll see I suppose.

No troops removed from Syria or the ME. Troops added to the ME at the behest of 9/11 Saudi Barbaria. Looking more like we gave up our real allies to appease a Turkish thug. #endendlesswarslolololol

Phhhhfwell. If it's that simple I believe we're spending a little too much on our military budget. I wonder if the interoffice memos on the matter(s) passed throughout the Pentagon are as pithy?

And no US troops out of Syria and more sent to the ME...and ISIS prisoners escaping into the desert. Well thought out plan. Such great wisdom.
