The Barbados or Mexico for medical school thing isn’t always a red flag.

Some people decide on medical school late, and it’s easier to get in and start at places like that if you’ve missed some prerequisites or entrance exams and don’t want to wait.

Residency and fellowships say more about their qualifications.

The doctors I’ve met who did that are normal doctors. And they came out of it being bilingual!

Women should be stay at home moms or nuns. There isn’t a job shortage, there are too many in the workforce.

After taking graduate level courses for 2 years as a freshman-sophomore, he dropped out of Harvard to launch Microsoft.

I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make.

What does doing a poor job as the Surgeon General even look like?

Did Vivek Murthy do a poor job?

Isn't the surgeon general almost symbolic?

Yes and no. The SG is the titular head of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. SG is also (typically) the senior advisor to the secretary of HHS on issues dealing with public health. Whether this SG would serve that role with RFK Jr. is unknown.

She will do fine.

The defense secretary is a former news caster.
The secretary of health and human services is a confessed heroin addict.
And the president is an 80 year old a-hole with more character faults than Carter has liver pills.

She will knock this confirmation out of the park.

Her resume is impressive...the best physician I ever had, incredible diagnostician, went to med school in the islands....
Some of the worst I have ever had had the pedigree you are citing. Book smarts have little to do with common sense and rational thinking.
The "pedigree" a patient should be interested in is the residency and/or fellowship most closely tied to the MD's practice. Odd as it sounds, a pedigree med school is almost inconsequential by comparison. The value of the Med School pedigree is the inside track it provides to postgrad training programs for the doctor.

In Saphier's case, as an Oncologic Imaging Fellow at Mayo Clinic, Arizona, with a special interest in breast imaging, she'd be very well trained, despite marginal earlier credentials. Hence her follow on hire and apparent successes at Sloan Kettering.

She'd look really good in an Admiral's uniform...that being said though nowhere as distinguished looking as C. Everett Koop (the model of what you expect a Surgeon General to look like).

I trust Trump’s judgement. Also, she is hot AF. She will do great and is highly qualified. Those upset at this nomination are just jealous they aren’t smoking hot like she is.

Well done, DJT. She’s quite the looker

I hear you, but the issue I’m raising is not if she is qualified. I’m asking if her background will hinder her in the confirmation process. The goal for the POTUS is to get your nominee into the job. I’m wondering if her medical school will be ammunition to use against her
