Host Kristen Welker said, “The President-elect is tasking Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, to try to cut government spending along with one of Mr. Trump’s former primarily rivals, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, all of it putting a spotlight on what it could mean for entitlements and defense spending.”
She asked, “You’ve tapped Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, to head out this Department of Government Efficiency, which proposes cuts to the federal government. I think a lot of people hear that and get concerned about Medicare and Social Security.”
Trump said. “It is not going to have anything to do with that.”
Welker said, “You won’t touch Medicare, Social Security?”
Trump said, “We are talking about Theft, abuse, fraud. I said, no, we’re not talking Social Security, other than we make it more efficient, but the people will get what they getting.”
Welker said, “So entitlements, off the table.”
Trump said, “And we’re not raising ages or any of that stuff.”
He added, “I won’t do it.”

As a 57 year old approaching those years I say: Raise it.

We'll get some RINO trash like McConnell to talk about entitlement cuts in order to help Democrats.

SS shouldn't be touched. Pay roll taxes shouldn't go to anything except SS.

Trump has said back before he was elected to his first term that he is not cutting social security benefits. He's said it multiple times publicly over the years... that doesn't stop liberal media and pundits and TDS Democrats from lying, still, currently, about Trump coming for your Social Security benefits.

You don’t tap a guy like Frank Bisignano to run the Administration if you don’t plan to touch Social Security. That man’s favorite (and possibly only) tool is a machete.

As a person approaching 61 and working and putting money into it since I was 17 years old, I say frick you.
I want my muther fricking money.
Or I can make it easy, give me a lump sum for what I would get paid from 65 to 80 years old and let me invest in it as I see fit.
I was forced to pay into this system, I expect full repayment of my money , with interest.
Notice they call it a benefit. frick that it is my money.

That's not to cut SS as a whole. That's to cut the $3 billion in waste (sending checks to the deceased)

Honestly if we got rid of the waste in government we'd be running with a trillion dollar surplus every year and would never have to worry about SS or Medicare.

Social security for retired people is not an entitlement, they earned it.

Just cut welfare so the lazy fricks go back to work. Then you have more taxpayers paying into SS. Problem solved itself

That’s not the way you buy votes.

I just looked up 2022 numbers.
Pay roll tax revenue was 1.7 Trillion dollars.
Social security outlays were 1.2 Trillion dollars.
SS is more than self sustaining.

SS is being phased out for retirees because the monthly benefits do not keep up with true inflation.

Barring government from leaching off of the SS Trust Fund for blue-light bargain rates would be a start. Move the fund to the stock market in waves.

Make SS optional to invest in.
I would have a lot more money for retirement if I was able to invest my 6.2% into a mutual fund than whatever I expect to get from the government when I am 67.

The best solution is never to give more of your money to the government so they can waste it.
It blows my mind that so many "small government" conservatives are willing to give up even more of their life and earned wealth to a government with a history of waste and corruption so that the politicians who raided the SS fund to begin with, altered the deal by taking out taxes on your already taxed money, and exempted themselves from the scam can "fix" the system they broke.
It's just throwing more money at the problem. It didn't work with inner city schools. It didn't work with Ukraine. It won't work with SS. If you agree to raise the age to 70, then before long it will be 72, then 75, then 77. It's the path of suckers and fools.

The SS shortfall is "only" expected to be $300 billion per year by 2035. There is easily triple that in waste currently, probably more.

I don’t think anybody understands what SS does. I used to be for it. Now I’m against it. It’s a mess.

Make SS non-taxable.
