I think it's awesome. I love it being dark and quite when I get home from work and not having to hear noisy neighbors outside obsessing over their yards, no screaming kids or barking dogs. Plus it's not dark outside when I wake up.
You’re tacky and I hate you.

DST is a holdover from WWII when we needed extra daylight to grow Victory Gardens.
I dislike the time changes, so I can go with either changing it for the extra daylight permanently, or not, but if we do change it, make that the permanent time.

Plus it's not dark outside when I wake up. I don't need daylight at eight o'clock in the evening I need daylight at six o'clock in the morning.

and with DST year round it would be dark until 8 AM from late DEC thru FEB.
Standard time is superior. You can fish in the summer when the days are longer.
You are missing civil twilight which would then be 7am. So at 7am it would be bright enough outside to do outdoor activities without the need for artificial light.
Also, fish don't know what time it is. You can fish anytime you want, you don't need to look at the clock.

What? There is nothing about daylight that stops dogs from barking.

quote:Sunrise will be at 4:30am in the summer on standard time. Most people I know that fish in the summer are on the water at the crack of dawn as it is because they want to be off the water by 11-12 because its scorching hot. Standard time means you either have to wake up at 3am if you want to avoid fishing in miserable heat.

Its quite simple, people who prefer permanent DST are the backbone of America, and people who prefer standard time are the leeches and parasites who just want it to get dark earlier so they can feel less guilty about being drunk at 5 pm

End the Fed while we are at it!

I say we do away with time altogether.
Posted on 12/13/24 at 3:45 pm to Tiger Prawn
Change it to 30 mins and leave it alone

The kids that haven't played outside since the 90's, this won't change due to permanent DST.

Don't see the problem, if you really wanted to fish before the heat you get up early enough to be on the water at dawn. It has always been hot during the summer.
I would compromise and have DST b/t Memorial Day and Labor Day. Winter has always come with less daylight, it's something the world has always dealt with, well until we came up w/ the stupid idea of DST.

Well, actually, it started in 1918. But was not uniformly used by all states until the Uniform Time Act of 1966.

It's past time to end DST.

I am pretty sure he means that we are going to eliminate standard time and switch to DST year-round.
If you want to keep DST then you would not say you want to end DST. They are opposites.

I say keep DST and get rid of standard time.
Or keep Standard time but businesses alter hours of operation based on seasons. In Summer open at 8-9 am close at 6pm in winter open at 6-7am close at 3pm
