So tell us counselor, why is the Manhattan D.A. seeking this information?
Of course, we know why -- Cyrus Vance is a far left whackjob looking for political dirt.
You're kidding, right?
(1) It's a state crime too in NY.
(2) The Trump organization is headquartered at 725 Fifth Avenue, Midtown Manhattan, which is squarely under Cyrus Vance's district. It's his obligation to prosecute cases in that district.

What crime has been allegedly committed? I’ve honestly never heard why they need his tax returns.

It's not just his personal tax returns. More importantly, it's the Trump organization's financial books, I think.
And, as I said a few posts back:
quote:
He's under investigation in Manhattan about whether or not the Trump organization falsified financial documents in order to hide hush money payments to two women Trump slept with before the election.

Not the place for this discussion.
As they say in the movies..."You opened that door, Counselor".

Who made the original complaint? Doesn’t someone have to make a criminal complaint? They can’t just go fishing, can they?
Also, why can’t we get our hands on the hush money fund that Congress has running?

Since Trump has been audited so many times... He probably has very little to worry about... Release them...
Well, he missed the deadline earlier this week to file his personal financial disclosures, even though the deadline had already been extended (Pence got his in on time). There seems to be a theme about wanting to drag out the financial disclosures.

both Trump appointees joined the leftists in the decision.

There are also implications that fraud may be an issue for the Trump Organization. From the little evidence that's currently available, it appears they do property valuation one way to obtain higher loan amounts, but value that same property very differently to reduce the tax burden.

This thread is so much different than what is being presented on twitter and elsewhere
People saying this is a political “win” for the president because it punts the decision?

From the perspective of looking at the argument Trump's team made and seeing how the judges ruled: it's a loss. They argued he was either absolutely immune, or a heightened standard should apply. They absolutely lost that.
From the perspective of not having the financial info dropped today: it's a win. It gets remanded to lower courts, and they will have normal, ordinary challenges to that discovery, and it will be months, likely years, before that info gets turned over.

Here, it is indicative that both were TERRIBLE choices, doubtless foisted upon Trump by secret members of a Deep State cabal and that both should promptly be removed from office, if not outright assassinated for their disloyalty.
You know, like Jeff Sessions.

quote:I was under the impression that they subpoenaed broad financial records as Robert’s states in his decision (financial records relating to the President and his businesses), not exclusively tax returns. In fact, I would bet that his tax returns aren’t really the important records at all.
Tax returns do not show anything.

In truth, isn't that standard practice for all corporate entities? It sure as heil has been for the ones that I have worked at. The top officers decided what the books should say and the "accountants" fiddled the numbers until they matched the desired results.

Just to quote Democrats during the Clinton impeachment: "So, this is just about sex."

That's not what you said. You said that he was seeking this information because it was "a federal crime."
You know DAMN F*CKING WELL that this is a politicized witch hunt and fishing expedition and NOTHING ELSE.

There's a difference in publicly talking about certain types of financial measurements (EBITDA, for example), and the information on tax filings. Baseball owners are a great example of this. That's not illegal. What is illegal is essentially having two sets of books. That is a lot less common, and certainly more illegal.

Of course he does. Just another alter rotating through.
