It did, and I really felt for Cosell on that one. As aggravating as he could be, he was no racist and in fact, a champion of the black athlete, especially in the 1960s and 1970s as our country was coming out of de jure segregation. A poorly chosen metaphor for sure but very hard to believe it was malicious.

It wasn't malicious at all. Cosell was from the same generational age as my parents and it was very common for those people to call children monkeys, my parents called us kids and their grandkids monkeys all the time.

It had nothing to do with race, it was because of how kids tend to crawl and climb over everything. It actually was meant as a term of endearment.

They knew Cosell didn't mean it in a bad way, they went after him out of plain spite and the chance to stick it to a whitey

I get the selective outrage and know the media and social media is going to blow this up. But why do this?

Those black votes for Trump were just as important as any white votes. Why take the chance of alienating those voters?

"it was very common for those people to call children monkeys, my parents called us kids and their grandkids monkeys all the time"

Younger people may not believe this, but this is the truth. "Yard apes" was another term used for kids, especially in reference to children who were outside playing boisterously." Of course, kids playing outside boisterously may be surprising today!.

It’s just dumb. Nobody asked for this.

I swear, it’s like he wants to get his arse beat in November.

Trump needs to post the full video for the full context.

Thanks. I tried to link from the source, but it kept giving 'file not found' for some reason.

It's a goofy fan vid that makes sense, in context. People freaking out over one screen shot is ridiculous.

Why? Trump didn’t post the full video. Only one with a short clip showing the Obamas.

Bold move if you ask me given his focus on the midterms.

Are you more offended that 2020 was stolen, or that a fan made a Lion King parody with EVERYONE as a jungle animal, but one screen shot was clipped and posted?

If you're more upset at the latter, you're a pussy.

Agreed. Like so much of what Trump is doing lately, this sort of video (or at least the clip with the Obamas) plays well only to a small base but turns off many, especially swing voters who decide elections. So dumb and undisciplined, but hey, that's our president. How about promoting some actual achievements such as economic growth, a sharp reduction in inflation, and an effectively closed border than the Biden administration said was impossible? Those are 80-20 issues!

Everyone so focused on the Obama's as monkeys that no one wants to talk about AOC as a donkey or the way Biden ate that banana
