So destroy the village in order to save it. This is not about trying to save Canada from itself.

Mebbe ….. mebbe not
You cannot deny the stupidity of allowing Canada to cozy up to CCP while exploiting the US trade agreements ….. not in this hemisphere

We got tired of being played like schmucks by the rest of the world. It’s not always about getting the cheapest price for everything. Who cares if I used to have 20 shirts made in the USA but now can buy 100 cheaper shirts made in China if my neighbor at the shirt factory lost his job and 20 shirts was still too many for me to wear regularly? Some things need to be made in our country.

Canada purposely slow walked the certification of Gulfstream jets because they’re a direct competitor of Canada’s Bombardier jets.

That would be fine since the Airbus A320 is built in Mobile AL. That’s the whole point of tariffs. Make international companies manufacture in your country to sell to your market. We are the biggest market in the world and we should leverage our advantage.

I agree. Those Bombardier products are made in our country piece by piece.....just assembled in Canada. Both sides win both the Canadian and American get to put food on the table

Won’t happen because Airbus can’t produce enough planes to satisfy the global market. If they could then Boeing would basically be bankrupt right now after the 737MAX fiasco. I’m sure most airlines on the planet would’ve dumped the 737 in a heartbeat if it was as simple as just ordering more Airbuses.

Trump is ripping the band-aid off and while it hurts, it needs to be done. Our political class has looked the other way for decades and haven't done anything about the tariff/trade imbalance. Trump decided to solve the problem all at once, and it is causing some churn, but in the end, it is business and we should be better off for this. My main concern is that once Trump leaves, we will go back to the way it was before because politicians who hate Trump (and want to be liked) will repeal his policies and go back to letting us get ripped off.

Does this mean Kid Rock has to sell his Bombardier?

I used to do business in Canada. They’re assholes when coming into their country to do business. A Canadian bank bought a banking portfolio from an American bank. We provided support for the portfolio with different systems.
Canadian customs in Ottawa took me back and interrogated me for hours. Those jackasses acted like I was a criminal. They wanted written invitation letters from the banks, proof of my role, and on and on. I had a similar experience in Vancouver. Those people can kiss my arse.

The amount of ignorance it takes to make this statement regarding this situation is staggering.

It's because you had a degree from Auburn.

With Irish Laws it's just as easy to purchase the aircraft with an Irish Registration, then re-register the Aircraft in the US, or just lease it thru an Irish Holding Company

Oh really? You believe Canada is a beacon of free market capitalism? Why do you think Trump made this move?

As noted by President Trump, U.S. businesses and contractors are blocked from bidding on most Canadian federal and provincial contracts for goods and services. However, the U.S. does not restrict Canadian companies from bidding on U.S. state and federal contracts.
Effective today, that one-way benefit ends.

Canada exports raw materials, then imports component goods. THAT is their economic model.
They chose that route when they decided that climate change was their gospel, carbon emissions were terrible and industrial manufacturing was dirty work that kills the planet. Now they have a “clean energy” carbon trading system, but electricity alone cannot smelt and pour.
Deloitte misses that BIG PICTURE entirely, in their estimate of losing 163,000 jobs/yr, and losing $402 billion in economic activity over ten years. Basically, Deloitte pretends some form of a general Free Trade Agreement with the USA will exist, while continuing to believe a bunch of Canadian processes, rules, bans, provincial regulations, tariffs and non-tariff barriers against the USA remain in place. The status quo without the USMCA.
I can assure you those massive assumptions are flawed. Canadian media and govt officials are pushing the Deloitte-ca analysis to maintain their political agenda.
The more likely scenario of a USMCA termination (without a FTA to replace it) would be somewhere around a 30 to 50% drop in all export-driven GDP, totaling well over a trillion dollars in the first 5 years.
LINK
I’m guessing that the US will formally trigger the 6-month Cancellation of USMCA sometime in the next 30 days ….and Canadian leadership is going to get what they deserve …. and they’re going to get it good and hard.
