Fair Trade not free trade, should have always been our motto, free trade means america last, IMO. Yes, cheaper products but lost jobs for the trade off, screw that.

I suppose if both sides were doing this it would work...but that's not the case and hasn't been for a long time.

You keep arguing from only the American perspective but "For me this is nothing to do with Canada specifically and everything to do with consumer choice, free enterprise" doesn't work.

Canada has been screwing us for a long time. 1,000 Bombadier employees will have temporary setbacks while 10's of thousands of Americans get screwed over daily.

This is a negotiating tool...that is all.

Background info for you: I worked for one of, if not the largest, Canadian companies for 15 years. I was part of a team that fed half of the freaking country all of its produce intake. I didn't bend the knee to their BS and lost my job because of it along with 8 other people that were very much like family. I'm not a fan of Canada even though I shouldn't hold a grudge. We can point to dairy for an example of their screwing us over. Yes, they're most definitely protectionist and it costs their consumers money to do it. No competition leads to a localized monopoly and higher costs, fewer consumer options and more. Tump's pronouncement, if it were to become reality, is taking us in that same direction. That's a negative.

Here's some info on Bombardier: They have approximately 17,100 employees spread out across the globe and a ton of US based facilities. Like I said earlier, he's targeting those facilities, communities and families by threatening their employer no matter how people may like to spin this. He clearly put Bombardier in the crosshairs. How else do you interpret this if you're on their payroll? It's your butt on the line when you've done nothing wrong other than be in the employ of an organization Trump is targeting. Lastly, they employ people in all but 5 of the lower 48 states.
