Trump Claims to Have Opposed 2003 Iraq - How Did He Fall Into the Same Trap?

Democrats are gaining leverage on the campaign trail touting Epic Fury as “2003 Iraq version 2.0.”
The comparison isn’t exactly perfect, given that Iraq was a massive boots-on-ground operation.
However the Iran War is a preventive war launched on contested intelligence, sold as a short, decisive operation, that has now stretched into its seventh month with shifting objectives, munitions shortages, and no durable political settlement.
Put another way, it’s a quagmire with no end in sight, which makes it painfully obvious that administration did one of 2 things (or likely both):
1. Underestimated the Iranian response and ability to withstand a conventional military campaign
2. Had no clear objectives and exit strategy
Also unclear to me why Trump continues to protect Hegseth when he was so wrong and his advice is going to potentially cost the midterms, and therefore the next 2 years of Trump’s presidency.
This transcends party lines. You can be a Republican and call out this massive failure at the same time.

Wonder if it was really necessary to post this for the 1,017 time? A certain persuasion of you all keep repeating variations of this over and over, and to each other, more often than not. When that kind of thing happens, seems like there’s something wrong with both the copycat line itself, as well as with the person saying it - in this case a decent number of those persons among us here, forming a pack, essentially.

Fair enough, but loyalty to the man over ideals permeates through this presidency to a degree not seen since this Country’s founding.
The most ironic thing is the man who has such control over the simple ability to remain objective was a lifelong Democrat until 10 years ago.
Regardless, party politics should play no part in this assessment. Yet here we are after just the first reply.

Maybe it’s that we had trannies on the WH lawn, an open border sucking the country dry with fraud and abuse, crime everywhere, the world laughing at us, and inflation over 9% that makes us loyal to never wanting to go back to that.

This is the part that either people don’t understand or care about. The fact is a nuclear power Iran now or later only amplifies the situation as time passes. How they are now is only because what governments have ignored to their own countries detriments. We are not better off now because of inaction over the last few decades, we would be much worse off in coming decade if this is not dealt with harshly now

Why not concentrate on only decimating their nuclear capabilities? What we are doing isn’t that. And it is well past three weeks

Are we sure that Trump is taking advice from Hegseth? He seems to make every decision himself based on fleeting whims.
