HOLY SMOKES.

Trump just signed an Executive Order on stage in Nebraska allowing drivers to fill up with tax-free red dye diesel, commonly referred to as “cherry flavored diesel,” and reserved for farm equipment.

This is going to save people a fortune.

Allow anyone to purchase tax free red dye diesel for any reason

My understanding is that they are functionally the same. So why is the red dye diesel cheaper in the first place?

Off road in theory doesn’t put any strains on roads and bridges as it’s used off road hence less tax

It isnt taxed the same. The dye just identifies it as non-road fuel in a manner that makes it readily identifiable.

Does this mean the state of Louisiana is going to honor this? I think they tax it at like .20/gallon. I’m curious if anyone has heard if Landry is going to do the same?

Just take the extra tax off all Diesel and then it won't make any difference. The only difference is the color. The difference is $0.444/gallon in LA.

Who knows

But the whole thing will likely have minimal impact precisely because the EO can't compel states to comply. Knowing Trump he'll probably threaten to withhold funding or just go on a dumb arse truth social tirade for states that don't play ball though.

Didn’t Landry already do this a couple of weeks ago?

Landry did this on 9/23. It would save $0.444/gallon., Federal tax is $0.244 and state tax is $0.20/gallon.
