Can you even saddle a horse?

The question Powerman, is where has this 44 cents a gallon been going to improve the fabulous roads in S. Louisiana? If the roads suck with $599M in state tax collections based on fuel taxes in 2023, where is it going?

The fines are overblown. It’s only about $1k. And no one’s pulling over non-CMV. It’s still a shite thing to do because it’s just tax evasion.

What happens is if you get put under investigation for any reason, or even an audit, they will go over your internet activities to look for evidence.

It's a dumb thing to brag about, there is no benefit and you could possibly incriminate yourself.

Same reason you should never talk to the cops. Maybe nothing will happen but you have nothing to gain from it.

He admitted to 20 years of doing it, so it would be much more than $1000. Even worse, since he is openly bragging about it, it's admission that he's purposely evaded it, which can land him in prison and large fines in addition to the fines for the infractions themselves.

I have no moral objection to what he's doing, at all. Taxes are theft. He should just keep it private.

DOT ain’t digging that deep. It’s a ticket and fine.

Agreed. Especially since you can deduct fuel taxes when you’re not on highways. We use cheapo gps trackers on all our equipment.

Very slim chance, especially a rancher in a Texas court. The feds aren’t messing with this unless he’s running a trucking business.

But they do pay for the roads he needs to sell his farming or ranching goods. Except he isn’t paying for it. But we are.

I was wrong. I think I’ve been doing it for close to 30 years now that I think about it

I'm talking the IRS, not DOT.

He's admitting to a felony.

Consumption based taxes are one of the few I agree with. The problem is - they don't really get used for that so it's kind of iffy.

But I agree in principle with the concept, if not for the corruption.

Good luck guy. Maybe nothing bad will happen, but admitting to committing felonies online is fricking stupid.

But the whole thing will likely have minimal impact precisely because the EO can't compel states to comply. Knowing Trump he'll probably threaten to withhold funding or just go on a dumb arse truth social tirade for states that don't play ball though.

You're more upset at Trump for writing an EO to help lower diesel costs than you are at the states that would intentionally keep costs higher by refusing to comply.
