Settling in the Northern part of the Ozarks in Mo.

But I've seen those folks. Typically hear about how nice it is, no traffic, costs of living is great, people are great, taxes are low....but why isn't there a hospital that's closer....or why isn't there more diversity....why are there so many Trump flags.

That said, some do come in with a "couldn't take the lunacy out there any more and I'm glad to be in a sane part of the country" and those usually settle in quick and make many friends. I don't mind those folks at all. Conservatives escaping.

Was about to post the same. No way people are leaving Connecticut, unless there’s a bunch of leeches there who are bolting for more free crap elsewhere.

I’ve lived here for two years and everybody I’m friends with are hardcore right wingers that wanted to escape the shotehole Northeast or local baws that don’t have a drop of soy in them. I’m guessing this is isolated to Wal Mart employees that are older than 40.

My daughter left Louisiana in 2014 to go to college and never returned to live here. Lives outside Dallas and works at BSW Cardiac Hospital in Plano. More opportunities in Texas and much better pay.

Has the #1 highest sales tax in the entire nation, ranks 48th out of 50 in household income, and has the highest murder rate in the nation for three decades and counting. It remains the only southern state that people are not migrating to, but leaving. It’s not difficult to see why.

CNBC Top 50 States For Business 2025

The most recent CNBC report on state comparisons was very critical of Louisiana and Thank God For Mississippi. Economy, education, infrastructure, and etc were at the very bottom.

I've lived in both. Louisiana being a shithole does not disqualify Georgia from also being a shithole.

At least Louisiana is a shithole with unique culture and good food.

I've visited Georgia over 20 times and the one criticism I had was they seemed to have no Fall or Spring. It always seemed cold like winter and then hot like summer. I mentioned it to an Emory prof and he said 'Actually, that's kinda true.'

What does Louisiana have to offer that is superior to the other states on the list?

Food, culture, entertainment, low cost living, less snobs.

the problem with Missouri for many years, was the lower pay for state, city jobs. But the wages have gone up, and they are starting to keep people. Also, giving nice chunks of money for tech start ups and help there after has brought and kept people

But the f'ing crime, man.

Connecticut is hardly a refuge for getting priced out of anywhere.

It absolutely is. To the people who live in that region, a median home price of $600,000 is considered very affordable.

Stamford has a robust economy and is only a 30-45 minute bus ride from NYC

Louisiana doesn’t surprise me. Homeowners insurance , auto insurance , and taxed to frickin death . Politicians could care less too. Corruption running rampant. I’ve had to nephews graduate From LSU and haul tailed it. If I wasn’t close to retiring I would leave here.
