The Virginia Supreme Court. Dems violated numerous procedural requirements under state law in their haste. The issues are very technical but the process is important.
Didn't they stack the state Supreme Court?

Did Texas voters pass a constitutional amendment to give power to an unelected bipartisan committee to redistrict political seats? I must have missed that. I thought the Texas legislature had always retained that power.

Oh ok. So you actually have no problem with states redrawing their maps mid decade or whenever they want to,
And now I understand your’re saying the wording of the referendum is the basis for a legal challenge.
I don’t agree… but you’re entitled to your opinion.

I heard the VA Supreme Court is nominally conservative. The technical violations see pretty clear cut. The question is does a court want to seemingly invalidate the will of the people even if the measure they passed was illegally placed on the ballot.

SCOTUS did exactly that when they passed the Obamacare legislation.

This plus other legal issues. The special session of the legislature was illegally continued to allow this measure to be placed on the ballot. Dems also had to pass a retroactive law to allow the measure to go forward without waiting a sufficient amount of time which I find troubling. The entire process violated numerous state laws.

Many people say that was the catalyst…
It was. People were talking about it, saying this would happen. Gerrymandering is ridiculous, no matter who is doing it.
Now that Virginia has succeeded, many more blue states are going to try this, and I absolutely don't blame them.

Why can't the good guys do something about this?
Maybe Act Blue is a start, but is it too late?
It's not too late...they are being lined up and taken down one by one.

How many states have basically eradicated the electoral college at this point? And yes, I know CO is one of them. That was inevitable with the influx of Californians over the last decade.

AI Overview
As of late 2024, 17 states and the District of Columbia have enacted the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC), a legal agreement designed to effectively bypass the Electoral College in favor of the national popular vote. These jurisdictions hold a combined total of 209 electoral votes.
