Not to my knowledge. Legislature retains that power.
So Texas didn’t actually change its laws to expressly Gerrymander whereas both California and Virginia did.

Many people say that was the catalyst…
Those people would be mistaken then. The catalyst was Illinois and other Northeastern Blue States gerrymandering their congressional districts after 2020 to totally eliminate Republican representation.

I get that you’re fired up.
Straight talk though…not using a census as the basis, and going for redistricting mid-decade…that’s not the same thing.

How stupid is the Indiana GOP for being all principled?

Agreed. It’s nowhere near as egregious as democrats totally eliminating every Republican congressional district in the Northeast when 40% of the voters there are Republicans. What Texas did is actually bipartisan by contrast.

There are good people in Virginia, they’re outnumbered by interloping leftists and DC swampers.

Sad day for sure. My Facebook is littered with friends bitching and complaining about Fairfax.

So to be clear regarding the Northeast. Was there census data used as the basis for the redistricting, or did they just re-draw lines mid-decade?

This is going to be struck down.

I don’t think it will be struck down.

Texas’ population grew exponentially after 2020. Population growth certainly justified mid-decade redistricting in Texas. In any event the “census” has never been a requirement for triggering redistricting. If Texas wants to draw partisan maps like Blue states why shouldn’t they be allowed to do so?
The issue in Virginia specifically is not redistricting as a concept or even one of timing. It’s the fact that this is an illegal ballot measure under Virginia law with a biased and misleading ballot description.

Why?
Do you agree with the Dem policies?

This should not happen in America under our laws.
Why can't the good guys do something about this?
Maybe Act Blue is a start, but is it too late?

The Virginia Supreme Court. Dems violated numerous procedural requirements under state law in their haste. The issues are very technical but the process is important.
