No lies were told. It was a double whammy. POTUS demanded it, and Abbott saw it through. It was contested in the courts where the consensus was that we're not touching this one.
The initial action and the ruling by the SC left a gapping hole open for retaliation.

Your timeline is wrong. This started in deep dark blue New York in 2022 when the dems gerrymandered out multiple Republican districts. That was the initial domino. I’m glad your side started this though because Red States in the Deep South are about to retaliate in spades for years of Democrat gerrymandering in the Northeast.
