I’ve read that the alcohol and for-profit prison industries have lobbied for this. I can see that. Alcohol consumption is way down pretty much nationwide.

Right now somewhere in the United States someone is on his way to a bar where he will spend most of the night getting as drunk as he possibly can. He will eventually go get in his car and drive home putting God knows how many people’s lives at risk because he is driving drunk. If he makes it home in one piece and managed not to kill himself or anyone else he will get out of the car walk into his house. His wife may not be to happy with him for laying out all night and coming home drunk so she will jump his arse and at some point he will start smacking her around. A scenario like that or similar will play out over and over all week because Alcohol is legal. People will have their lives totally ruined because they are drunks, someone they love and care about is a drunk, or was in the wrong place at the wrong time when they came into contact with a drunk. Yet these hypocrites politicians making laws will do absolutely nothing to make booze illegal. They will find a camera and scream about how pot is a gateway drug and we need to crack down on it. Then go home and pour themselves a drink and have to crawl to the bed later.

Man, I always underestimate the amount of degenerates in this world.
Even this place which is for the most part conservative is full of dope heads.
Wrong… things that are illegal are a very much a deterrent for law abiding citizens even if not 100%.
In my adult life I’ve watched society degrade… ironically and in parallel society wants to normalize weed. So much that even pundits on ESPN have pushed for it. You used to never hear this kind of talk from a sports show when I was growing up. I’m tired of smelling it in parking lots. At community events, football games, etc..
I say keep locking ‘em up. If you say it doesn’t matter “that you’ll smoke it anyway”, then these laws shouldn’t bother you…

Why does every anti-weed person assume that everyone who smokes is a "dope head?" Do y'all think that everyone who drinks is an alcoholic?

That's great analysis. It completely ignores the fact that weed was made illegal to target blacks and hispanics. It ignores that alcohol is still legal and causes 100x the problems. Weed was made illegal because it was bad. It was strictly political.
Why was prostitution so much more prevalent in the old days? Why did that decrease as society turned into the immoral pot heads of today? Weren't people more religious at that time?
With your logic, we should bring back prostitution and ban weed so we can be the moral country we once were.
If anyone has read about the rise of communism, they would understand that these types of laws are used to oppress the citizenry while the career criminals are let off as it is "expected behavior." But that requires more thought than "weed bad."
Have none of the anti-weed shrews ever heard about the effects of prohibition? Maybe we can get the government to start poisoning people again in the name of morality.
