As long as enacting term limits for Congress is in the hands of Congress, it will never happen.
That's the problem. Seems this would be one of the very few things that we the people should have direct control of. Voting salaries, retirement benefits and term limits.

Yeah I’m not seeing anything to be excited about in this bill. Some decent ideas, but mostly half baked.
Maybe they are expecting it to be fixed in the senate.

Now Trumps budget reinstates all those DOGE cuts…
Are there really items cut by DOGE that are being re-authorized?

It's primarily the age old Congressional trick/scam of growth.
In this case, the tax cuts are offset by 3% anticipated growth. CBO is using 1.8% growth. So by CBO standards the tax cuts (considered spending, not less revenue) are an increase in spending by 1.2% as compared to 0% by the finance committee's calculation.
This is only one of several things, but in this bill it is a biggie because it is centered around extending (and adding) tax cuts.
I think the Build Back Better bill used 6% GDP growth (or was it Inflation Reduction Act?) which is why I use the word 'scam'. When used in moderation it isn't a scam; when using 6% growth to justify spending and call it 'net 0 on deficit' it is a scam.
I'm just going to assume with where things are heading that we're nearer to a contraction than 3% growth if we're talking GDP.

quote:I'm leaning that way also. But who knows - that's the problem with how they determine things like "adding to the defecit" with this stuff. It's a guess. In the end... the defecit keeps going up no matter what the CBO, Dems, or Repubs say in these bills so their guesses, all of them, are wrong. I assume wrong intentionally.
I'm just going to assume with where things are heading that we're nearer to a contraction than 3% growth if we're talking GDP.
Also depends over what time period. In this instance because the tax cuts are through 2028, I would guess that 3% from the R's and the 1.8% from the CBO is over that time period aggregate.
Trump & Johnson are counting on the tax cuts = growth that then turns this "spending increase", resulting from tax increases, into a spending cut by the way they calculated deficit spending.
Lot's of ifs in that.
There's also lots of if's in saying it is deficit spending increase in basing tax cuts on 1.8% growth.

Musk absolutely claimed that he and his team cold save billions z. They were not merely an “advisory board”. They were given access to everything and allowed to give notice to agencies’ personnel

DOGE is an advisory board. I dont know how many times it needs to be shown to you leftists before it finally sinks in and you get it.
You are a true believer and buy the mainstream pop narrative more often than not. DOGE isnt cutting anything, that is still up to Congress and the President.
