All bear some resemblance to the Wright Flyer as does the 777X. You know, wings, rudder and such. I'm not going to put much stock in discounting WWII technology. Wings, tail, elevators and guns.

They would do training scenarios over the Honey Island Swamp back in the late 80's early 90's and fly low over the tree canopy. I remember that distinctive whistling sound the engines made when making a pass over our camp.

And the AF constantly wants to retire them because CAS isn’t sexy. They should just turn them over to AFSOC.

I wouldn’t be here without CAS. We were damn good at it back in the day.

We’re still good at it but the A-10 is our only real platform for daytime support. Spectres are no bueno in the daylight.

Because there no good replacement. We’d rather spend the money on developing F-35s.

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

Like the Fonz with his comb, standing in front of the mirror, and leaving without using the comb.

Nope. He used his Stuka to kill tanks and not with bombs either.

Man, I remember camping at Indian Creek a bunch as a kid. All summer long you'd hear that unmistakable rumble in the distance while the A-10's were making their bombing runs on the ranges in Kisatchie. Brrrrrrrrrrt Was that Thunder? Nope, just the A-10's.

Saw a show on the Kursk salient battle, you’re correct, some German Ace had them mount 30mm cannons on his Stuka and he wrecked shop on the T-34s.

They flew training over the Kisatchie NF in central Grant Parish in the 80s and 90s, before England AFB closed. I swear they used my parents place as a way point due to the amount of tin roofs they had
