The rioters want more money from the government.

And taxes are already among the highest in the world.

France creates nothing, makes nothing, and does not innovate. They do write a lot of checks to their citizens and to migrants, however.

I don't see how this ends well. It is not just going to blow over. I predict it will be the first western democracy to fall to anarchy.

so odd that govts tax the shite outta people, fix nothing, yet the money always disappears. Makes you wonder....

nah, not really. That's just how all these talentless, sell-out scumbags get filthy rich.

very true... reportedly, student protests were taken over by the France Unbowed, leftist party. this upcoming election will be choice between far left and le pen.

it's a battle over the size of their welfare state. government wrote checks last time but they can't this time. they're broke, bond rates are through the roof, no cheap Russian energy, very high taxes already

the beginning of a debt crisis and a preview of what happens here eventually also with our two trillion dollar annual deficit and 40 trillion total debt. riots eventually when the money runs out.

It's more complicated than that. But in a nutshell it has a lot to do with budget deficits.....but it has more to do with being pegged on a fixed rate to the German bond. Capitol is running to Germany from France because the Euro is fixed internally. It's a better bet for your capital to be used in Germany than France.

That got me wondering about what I've bought from France in the last 70 years. I can't think of anything. They were famous for champaigne but I never liked the stuff. However, I've bought a lot of wine in my life from California and they have a government similar to France.

I mean… have you looked around? We’re $40 trillion in debt, running annual $2 trillion deficits, spending over $1.1 trillion in interest… and Trump wants to send everyone in the country $5,000. “We” (the collective we) are no better.

He doesn't remember hitting his head.
He doesn't remember that:
France is the 7th largest economy
A world leader in military industry
A world leader in pharmaceuticals
A world leader in space and rocket technology
A major agricultural area
A major arts and music area
The largest tourist destination
And they are politically one of the dumbest countries on earth

Its never been about the money. Its about bankrupting the west to make it easier to conquer. You really think the left cares about the poor or working class?
