I'll counter with the Iran war was Trump's biggest blunder. Folks were already skeptical due to not releasing the Epstein Files, wary of Tariffs, etc. But to jump into another ME war and subsequently drive consumer prices higher has been a disaster and has caused a crack to become a chasm.

Never expect people to go against their self interest. The only plausible counterweight to boomers (who actually vote) is younger people voting.

I guess. But there’s a lot of accumulated evidence that they simply don’t vote. Old people go to the city council meetings and they go to the polls. Def might help if there weren’t only 80 year olds running the party for sure.

I'm closer to 80 than 40. It's time to step up young people. Quit bitching, and do something.
By the way, what does a young non-democrat want in the way of a platform?
Means test SS?
Higher taxes on the rich?
Taxing unrealized capital gains?
Reducing the size of government?
Cutting the military?
Restrictions on freedom of speech?
What in the hell do you want?

I’m not sure why you’re addressing this question to me as I am not a democrat. I am also middle-aged and high income/high net worth so I doubt I even speak for the demographic that has the most to gain from a more sane fiscal policy. But what we were talking about here is the kind of fiscal policy described in the Manhattan Institute paper i linked to above, which would dramatically cut spending as a priority above raising taxes

Im planning to have nothing from the government. Or for inflation to make it a meaningless contribution. Doesn’t mean I don’t worry about the people who will really need it. Or maybe Elon is right and the robots will be wiping our asses, making money unnecessary

Look, I may be wrong but you will sign up for Medicate at 65 and they will take money from your SS checks. Maybe you can opt out and find providers and hospitals that share your philosophy. I had wonderful company sponsored heath care insurance until I had to go on Medicare. Medicare isn't that bad at all.

Oh yeah didn’t mean to imply I wouldn’t sign up. I will. If it’s still going like this, my opting out won’t change anything. Still, structurally, it’s a system that misallocates scarce resources and I wish I had a party or candidate to vote for that took it seriously.

It would be good if you, and young people that think like you do, understood how pathetic you come across. What have boomers done that make them uniquely "selfish" and why do you think anybody, a person or generation, owe you something?

I get where you’re coming from as far as the policy shift to the center, but there’s a large block of people who will vote for any candidate Trump endorses regardless of whether they align with the 2024 platform or not so I definitely still consider that a separate thing.
