"Progressivism" does cause a lot of successful people to look to escape. It's why really "progressive" places like the USSR and North Korea have to build walls to keep people in.

I mean yeah that is really a technicality. It was technically a kingdom but was still a country.

That said, while there is truth, this American take on new to old countries in Europe even including the more ancient ones such as Italy and Greece is not a good look. They are made up of people that have connections in various ways, we have a pretty defined start date. Unless we want to include 1619, amirite?
