but I do care that our government acts lawfully. As a conservative, I am also saddened that mine appears to be a minority view on a board that voted overwhelmingly Republican.

It's because you don't have the facts right in your head for whatever reason. No laws are being ignored or broken, there is no violation of the constitution, etc.. it's a simple issue made complicated by some people's feelings. .

"Behave lawfully"? He entered the country illegally. That's a Federal crime. He was deported legally.

Where do his fundamental rights come from? He is a citizen of El Salvador. What does his constitution say?

For those of us concerned with the lack of due process, I suspect this doesn’t change anything, especially in view of the Hight Court’s 9-0 decision. What this report suggests to me is that there could well be grounds to deport this man. If so, I expect the Government to do their job and deport him lawfully.

Ummmm he was.

Do you dispute that he is not a US Citizen & a citizen of El Salvador?
Do you dispute that he illegally entered the United States in 2012?
Do you dispute that CIs identified him as a leader in MS-13 and so does El Salvador?
Do you dispute that 2 immigration judges ruled he needed to be deported?
Do you dispute that the rival gang he feared retribution from no longer exists in El Salvador?
Do you dispute that El Salvador is a sovereign nation & the United States can’t compel them to release an El Salvadoran citizen they have deemed to be a threat to society?

What questions do you have now?

Or when he snuck into this country to begin with, avoiding all “due process” procedures that are in place for legal immigration.

It’s a sad day when this is how far too many describe one of our most fundamental rights, the right not to be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.

Illegal immigrants can be deported at will by fedgov. What “right” does an illegal have to enter our country and stay here?

Once again how did the US Government trample his rights?

Is “annually” a good synonym for “regularly?” I’ll hang up and listen.

Do you get regular medical check ups? How often are those? Are they annual?

But...I don't want to shy away from admitting a mistake. It was my memory, not media propaganda that was faulty. I thought he checked in monthly, but I looked it up. You're right...he checked in annually...which I would not have described as "regularly" in this context:)

Seriously! He had a solid year, maybe longer, to make a case for asylum... and being a young man, 17-18 yrs old... so why didn't he? This is in Obama's years, Dreamers and whatnot.

Somehow, Hombre's brother found a way to gain legal status... why didn't hombre follow his lead?

He was convicted of that? I’m assuming no being that this story just magically appeared without the administration mentioning it. If we are just going to assume guilt now, I guess you do you. That pendulum always swings back.

No from day one they said they believed he was involved in human trafficking. Next excuse!

no by west cal,

What due process was he not given? Two, not one, two immigration judges ruled he was ms 13 and here illegally. Because they did not abide by the law and send him home does not mean he can have a third hearing. Be better, this is a tiresome argument.

Eh not really. Due process is still due process.

But this is actually a good thing for Trump. Now he can bring him back, actually do it by the book, grant him due process, and send him packing the correct/legal way. THEN they really have nothing to stand on.

And don’t give me that “we can’t get him back” nonsense. If you don’t think Trump could get this guy back in a second if he actually wanted to you’re on drugs.

This has already been done. It is just conveniently ignored.

Good riddance.

The village antagonist who thinks they/them is a Supreme Court justice and world renowned economist. Also probably the smuggest person on this board.
