A lot of these proud atheists and agnostics around my age who are so proud of non-belief have essentially swapped in liberalism as their religion. Identifying as a liberal and conforming to its idealogy is more important than family, friends, relationships, etc. It's why so many millennial girls have anti-Trump stuff on their fricking dating profiles.

I get being in great disagreement with family. I do. I have a cousin in Oregon who is a very, very active member of antif@g. His brother is a pure socialist SJW but doesn't buy into the violence, but just passive aggressively attacks conservatives based purely on rhetorical stereotypes.
The last time I showed up to visit my Mom and they were there, cousin number 2 (SJW) was making small talk about the weather and threw out a line something like "Yeah, this heat so late in the year is odd. If I wasn't such a hardcore conservative who doesn't believe in climate change, I'd swear we are causing global warming."
Before antif@g could chime in, I stood up and looked at both of them and asked not to disrespect my mom's house by getting political. Told them I wanted an enjoyable visit and didn't want politics discussed because everyone there knew we'd end up throwing hands.
Antif@g rolled his eyes and got up and left. The rest of us continued to visit and it was nice. An hour later, my wife gets on Facebook and shows me a post that antif@g just made, attacking me for "ruining a loving family visit by injecting my racist conservative politics into a peaceful family gathering". Then actually posted a picture of me and asked all his Facefrick friends to "Deal with him [me] our way if they ever see him [me] in public".
This is the modern left. Some will put it aside for family's sake. Some will lie about you and put a hit out on you.

This is precisely The Left. It's a psychology, people. Had we been in Oregon, I'd have watched my back. My concealed permit is not recognized there, but it is in my Mom's state.
I would love to beat antif@g's arse for calling for harm to me. And he's a big guy but I've seen video of how he acts at rallies, so I'm confident he'd be a light snack. But he's pretty close with my Mom so I wouldn't just start something. Now, if he ever tries to put hands on me...
