Wow.

I don't even know what to say to that. It makes sense, but to see it acknowledged in this way is daunting.

Blinken and Austen should both resign over this.

As is your right and I give you props for acting on your beliefs. I'm just as appalled as you about what's going on. I just think you're setting yourself up for major disappoinment. Nothing will happen. Especially to Biden or anyone in his cabinet. As someone else said, some pencil pushers at the State Department or the Pentagon may lose their job over this, but past that...no one will be affected.

And the said thing is, the majority of the public don't even really care, or know, about what's going on and the massive failure over there. While many that do know, are cheering it on because of party alliances.

Someone posted this part but didn't include the other posts in the thread: (Also, keep in mind I'm not sure you can verify this)

Friction at airport between US & UK forces Commanders.

US forces won't leave airport due to Taliban deal.

2 Para still running patrols into Kabul to collect people from safe houses.

US unhappy with Paras saying it puts their deal at risk.

New Posts

Things are so bad between US and UK forces at Kabul Airport, #Afghanistan, 2 Para have been tasked to observe US forces in case they leave at short notice.

2 Para OC had a screaming match with 82nd Airbourne CO.

Paras VERY unhappy at treatment of Afghans by US forces.

Meanwhile, 2 Para are running constant patrols into Kabul to collect British, Irish and Afghan Nationals due for evacuation.

Any other nationality also picked up if at location. Taliban are aware of patrols and taking no action.

UK forces very much running own operation. #OSINT

US Rank & File Soldiers at Kabul Airport, #Afghanistan are incandescent at the position taken by US Central Command regarding evacuations.

They are extremely frustrated they can't join 2 Para & the small army of military contractors they've assembled to rescue people in Kabul.

This needs to be blasted to all media and the military brass needs to answer.

The only way the boots on the ground military is not going out and getting people is because they are getting stand down orders from on high.

He has also claimed he's spoken with members of the 82nd who are pissed about not being able to go on runs to collect Americans like the UK counterparts. Which would be understandable, especially if they're witnessing successful efforts to do so by the UK (see reference to Taliban taking no action in other tweets).

One of the tweets had a quote like "Why are we even here if all they needed was air field security"

generally with foreign policy, you want to be a terrible enemy but a good ally.

we’ve gone with the opposite in Afghanistan: a terrible ally but a good enemy.

Bomb the palace and every American and ally not in the airport and a lot in the airport die.

You may be fine with securing the deaths of 10’s of 1,000’s of people for literal no gain, but I’m not

It all hinges on Biden's master plan that accounted for every contingency. He probably believed that in order to hit his troop target we couldn't have a base fully manned, and to keep it secure we would have to keep a large number of troops there. Of course, he was operating under the misconception that the Kabul airport and the roads to it would be open and peaceful and our people could just drive or be driven to the airport. Hell, that's STILL the fricking plan for anyone who wasn't able to get to the damn Embassy before they closed it.

Ya, it's kind of ridiculous to have the 82nd Airborne and the 10th Mountain providing security.

Apparently, there is still A LOT of Afghanis next to the airway. They haven't been removed? The 82nd is just riding up and down the runways to clear it?

Surely almost all these people have friends and family here. Not to mention the Afghan people and their descendants that are here.

It’s still not enough to get everyone’s attention. Your average person on the street doesn’t pay much attention to a lot of things. Especially something that is not directly affecting them. Most people have a slight understanding of what’s happening in Afghanistan but they don’t care a lot about it.

Remember the report yesterday that the 82nd was originally in route to try to take back and secure Bagram? That plan was shot down and they were redirected to help secure the Kabul airport.
