So basically, everyone calm down. This is going exactly as planned. There was a chance it could have been done in an orbited and efficient manner but Trump ruined everything by pulling out the troops.

Notice there’s no mention of the targeted Afghnis who haven’t had their paperwork processed yet?

MSNBC says that the Taliban has been mostly peaceful: Not the Bee

Hey remember when this was the end of the world and the worst thing that’s happened to this country since the Civil War?

Biden didn’t want to do the raid for OBL. I don’t believe he would open fire on civilians. Perhaps “the taliban” will but not Biden.

Biden isn’t going to. Some paratrooper will be rushed by a mob and will be following orders when it happens.

Appreciate updates. Could you provide links or sources?

Some of the information directly conflicts with other reports.

The Westerners who are left behind will have to remain hidden for a while until one of the international special forces teams can find a way to rescue them at a later date.

That’s unacceptable. They need to figure something else out.

We should have never signaled the desertion of Bagram and done this all from there while we had the shot.

This could easily become a black hawk down situation on a massive scale.

I really don’t see a scenario where dozens if not hundreds of Americans are killed in this.

We should have gotten everyone out before the last few guys turned off the lights on their way out.

It certainly would have been helpful to have Bagram along with the Kabul Airport. That was a huge fricking blunder.

Has the Biden admin even gotten in front of a camera or released any sort of statement yet?

Just a pic of him at Camp David in front of a TV on an apparent zoom call about this. Except it appears this was a pic of him back in March, not today. So, no.

You just described everything that's happened in this presidency so far.

OSINTtechnical twitter

Really good source of information of what's going on by intel folks.

Also reports that since its now dark in Kabul that aircraft do not feel comfortable landing due to the humans sitting on the airfield.

Dutch MoD also mentioned a couple of minutes ago that their C-130 Hercules is currently not able to land in Kabul.

Shouldn’t have deserted Bagram so quickly and quietly. We’d be handling this in a from a better position if we didn’t.

And six of those years he was in charge of managing Afghanistan.

This is what I don't understand. How in the hell do you close your military base even if we take Pelosi at her word that they knew it was "possible" the Taliban could re-take Kabul.

We obviously still had thousands of Americans on the ground in Kabul, let alone other sensitive resources, Afghan allies, etc.

This is nothing more or less than our dipshit President* ignored intelligence, and botched this at every step of the way, now caught with their pants down and thousands of American lives on the line, they are trying to scramble to control the damage.

Too, late. It's done. Those Americans who cannot get to the airport will be found, captured, tortured, and killed in the most heinous of ways by the Taliban and this administration will have the blood of these people all over its hands.

I've never been more disgusted with my country and its leadership than I am now. This is the most egregious of foreign policy blunders in this country's history and at this moment in time, we are still not doing near enough to get our people home.

I'm legitimately shaken to my core over this. This is unacceptable and should never have happened. Those poor Americans who cannot get to the airport have a fate awaiting them that is unconscionable. It never had to be this way.

Regardless of how you identify politically, this will go down as one of the darkest moments in America's history -- and it was our "leadership" that signed the death warrants of these Americans.
