Americans in general haven't really taken very many entities seriously in the ME. In terms of military prowess, the US has no match, but wars are political exercises, and there are many ways of seeing out political objectives.
That is well said.

Twenty years of nation building in Afganistan. Them running to the airport to be "saved" by Americans instead of running to get their guns to protect their way of life tells you all you need to know.

Afgan President hauls arse with suitcases with millions of dollars stuffed in them. That is telling.

The past twenty years was a lie. They were just making money off the USA Military dollar and we were the suckers giving it to them.

All good and reasonable people should leave Afganistan. And we should nuke the whole fricking country to send a message to those child sodomizing Taliban fricks and any other country that pulls the same shite in the future.

Got to hand it to Trump he took the only path that would ever get us out of the forever war. He handed his successor an excuse. This outcome was long predicted and no administration had the will to accept inevitable. (Not a Trump fan and didn't vote Dem) Always pulling for best outcome for US no matter the administration. This isn't a sporting event you don't have to cheer for your political party side. There are actual US and allied lives at stake. Absolutely sad some of you are rooting for more catastrophe because your "team" isn't in charge.

There was a time in politics when it was honorable to admit your own mistakes and not blame it on someone else.

If you knew this was going to be a quagmire, then you should have done an about-face and said we are staying to keep the peace. It is simple.

What color were the bags. My son is at the airport maybe he could find them. Would be a nice bonus for having to be over there.

You honestly believe the US gov/military believed we were “nation building” for twenty years and this is some big shock to them? Whew.

I think the only reason they haven’t invaded yet is the Winter Olympics in Beijing, but with this level of weakness I think they may strike sooner and say “frick the Olympics”.

But yea no artillery fire that I’m aware of.

HEAVY artillery fire, according to the thread title. Heavy artillery is above 155mm artillery fire. 155mm fire is normal US artillery fire.

According to the thread title, the Taliban are bombarding the Kabul Airport with 170mm field artillery?

I've said this a few times already but it needs to be harped on repeatedly. What in the hell is the deal with the total radio silence from the Biden administration?

That is not leadership people

That is exactly what’s about to happen. They sense blood in the water and are about to attack.

100% agree. But everyone knew this. There was no reality where the Afghan Army would stand up to the Taliban on their own. And everyone knew that. So many lies to the American people.

If we don't have the troop numbers to secure the runway/airport.

Does this mean the 82nd airborne will parachute in to help rather than land ?

This situation was inevitable although could've been less severe imo. This was going to happen to some degree no matter who was in charge. The botch was Biden's military intelligence thinking the Taliban were weeks away and they took Kabul a day or two later. We should have held firm until the embassy was evacuated and all US citizens given fair warning to GTFO.

The REAL problem imo is the weak, cowardly Afghan men. You've had 20 years to build a government and military to withstand insurgents yet you pussies haven't done shite. You sat there hating America while enjoying the faux/temporary freedom it provided to you and your family. When it was time for you to stand up for your own country you closed up shop and ran. Weak Coward Bitches.
