re: Sundance from CTH has been pushing a huge incoming food supply chain shortage pretty hard

amazes me how many Americans, including many conservatives, really have no idea how close they are to starving at any given moment in time.
We’re only close because we have fricking retarded Dimocrats in charge of the country. If someone with a brain was in charge we would be running like normal

I think the Cally rigged barge unpacking shortage coupled with people on covid leave or quitting from vax mandates will peak a shortage; a Brandon typical disaster.
Also, If Roberts believes in Sotomayor's propaganda & bends to the political pressure from Brandon. Then truckers will quit and get local jobs and then it may be dire.
I can see Brandon rolling a teleprompter out and saying meet here and there and get your free food, but people of color to the front of the line; all others are in camps fed Michelle Obama food 3X a day and a warm cot.

The point is, it doesn't that THAT much disruption to create a massive problem. And, there's a concept called a tipping point which comes into play.
Basically, imagine the toilet paper silliness but expanded combined with even moderate disruptions in the overall supply chain.
Easily 95% of the public is no better than 1 week away from no fricking food in the house. Can you imagine the impact of a run on food if people start to perceive that the stores are getting uncomfortably low............even if that low stock itself would be manageable?

After Hurricane Florence we live rural but had a system set up of sharing with neighbors-- which station had gas (only one station and it had a 5 mile line) We went w/o power for weeks. I was shocked at how fast the Food lion ran out of food. It was a big deal to find a box of bubba burgers or breakfast sausage. It was a treat people had generators all going or ate off a firepit/grill.
It would not take long for empty shelves. I remember bread was wiped day three.

What does this mean?
Quarantines and close contact isolation mandates are creating logistical backlogs in food supply chains.

And at least when a natural disaster hits, you can hope for deliveries to come from unaffected areas.
If you have a national disruption followed by a food panic..............yeah.........
People don't get that if you have a run on stuff......it's not like all of the producers out there are just chilling around with extra capacity.
If I normally produce 1000 widgets a month to supply a demand for 1000 widgets and suddenly, all the fricking widgets are gone in day 2 of the cycle......you ain't seeing any other widgets for 28 days whether you like it or not! (yes, I'm being simplistic for illustration purposes).
And then, if the next shipment lands on stores and is gone in a day also........

In about a week the Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate will mean around 30,000 cross-border truckers will be forced to shut down. Starting January 15, truckers will be forced to show proof of vaccine.
This Canadian border issue will not help any of this.

If true, I bet he has more knowledge of how supply chains actually function than the highest compensated General Schedule flunky in the United States Department of Commerce.

(9) In fact, there will be those who will generate the false narrative that the WHOLE problem with supply chains, is BECAUSE of these “horders”; we already saw some of this, in the toilet paper shortage awhile back.

(10) And, of course, once the Government institutes rationing [whatever the scale], IT decides WHERE material goes, AND WHO GETS IT and equally important, WHO DOESN’T.

(12) So, to get your one loaf of bread and gallon of milk per week, you will have to show your vax passport, for you and your household, or “No hamburger for YOU!”, courtesy the “soup kitchen nazi” from seinfeld.

The one thing we know is that the Dem's government wants full control of everything. The old has to go for the new to take its place. They know what is coming in the next election, and just like the last one, will do ANYTHING to retain power. We have long accepted on this Forum that real action which aptly addresses Dem Authoritarian hegemony will only come when the Right has pretty much nothing left to lose. The Left will be glad to make that happen.

Our local Walmart was completely out of dry dog food of any kind.

Hope ya'll loaded up on TP.
Been reading about it, something about truckers not being allowed into Canada without a 'clot-shot' card which will cut off supplies from Canada.
Lots of truckers have refused to take the Jim-Jones-Jab.
IDK what all we import from Canada but I think we get a lot of stuff from them.
Best I can tell is that a lot of vehicles, machinery and crude oil come from Canada.
Just some general thoughts:
Water, water, water. This is our most critical but overlooked asset to have.
A case of bottled water will be enough for an adult for a week.
Unsafe drinking water causes millions of deaths each year world-wide and causes many other life threatening diseases.
A good gravity-fed water urn with lots of ceramic filters that have activated charcoal will fix the issue.
Spend a $200-300 bucks on a good set-up like these:
JustWater
or
DoultonUSA
Sawyer has a lot of good set-ups but they are geared more toward campers/hikers.
Katdadyn puts out some great water products
Big Berkey used to have great filters but I still believe they are having quality issues with their filters.
Get a few a pounds of 'pool shock' with calcium hypochorite. This will be enough to last for years, just know, its very caustic and does not store well.
Food:
Remember we need the big three to maintain good body health:
Proteins, fats and carbs.
Food buckets and MREs are a decent fix for the short-term but they are loaded with salts and many other preservatives.
Augason Farms, Mountain House, Harmony House are some of the better food buckets out there.
Foods that are easily stored in cans with lots of protein, fats, carbs.
*Chili, corned beef hash, Spam, hams, roast beef, tuna, sardines, salmon, Chef Boyardee, spaghetti, Dinty Moore soups, beans...
Medical supplies such as lots of different bandages, anti-bacterial ointments, wound cleansing agents, antibiotics, aspirin, ibuprofen, first aid kits, medical grade sterile gloves, first aid guides, take some first-aid class...
get that medical or dentist procedure done that you have been putting off such as a bad tooth or that hernia.
An abscised tooth, if not treated can be deadly.
Personal protection and ammo with lots of practice, pepper spray, self-defense lessons...
I like this site because it doesn't have a lot of bs on it and is pretty straight forward.

I don’t know how much credence I should give him, but it seems wise to always have a months worth food, water, and meds available.
I mean, if you live in a region that gets hurricanes, this should be your norm.

I work in food manufacturing, profits are nearly flat to sometimes negative for many suppliers on many items while implementing these cost increases.
I know that many suppliers on on their second increase. Commodities are +11%, labor +20+%, etc

“70% of the 700 billion in trade between Canada and the US is moved by truck. This will have a dramatic effect on supplies and services reaching their destination and getting in the hands of those who need them.
One needs to look no further than the recent UK fuel shortage, where the military had to be brought in to deliver fuel as a result of a lack of truck drivers. We are already seeing shortages, if these shortages reach critical levels on items such as fuel, food, blood, medicine or medical supplies, we will see real long-lasting damage.”
