Exactly. Until you correct the real problem you’re just going to get right back in debt.

Welfare fraud is unnecessary spending in itself, so while a cute talking point this is part of the “real problem”

It’s not. Even if it was that’s a billion dollars per year. Multiply that by about 50 (and that assumes every state is as bad), since Minnesota is about an average size state, and that’s $50 billion per year, not $250-$300 billion. Get rid of all of that and you’ve eliminated less than 3% of the deficit and still have 97% left.

So where do you think the problem lies?

In order:
1. The federal government is doing all kinds of things it should not be doing.
2. Government is inefficient because they are spending other people’s money for (mostly) other people’s benefit.
3. Fraud, waste and abuse

Go on.

I wholeheartedly agree with your other two points.

I completely believe. The question becomes, will the republicans help clean it up. FACT 1: the fraudsters won’t help clean it up.

So then the question becomes, is there overlap between the fraudsters and the republicans

I’m finished. That’s my three reasons. Surely there is more, but these are the lion’s share of the problem, particularly that the government is doing too much.

A large portion of the fraud is in mandatory spending, ie medicare.

He knows this and he's pretending not to due to very basic democrat-liberal media talking points (we call them propaganda) that my neighbor's labrador isn't fooled by.

Second, coming out of the covid massive spend, to ensure that the spending could continue, that did a cute little thing with discretionary spending.....

He also knows this for the same reasons. SFP is a lawyer, he is well aware that the definition of discretionary is very fluid.

This is why noboyd likes SFP. He uses the most elementary crap talking points and stands by them as if they were the truth from the mouth of the Lord. Like we're all just a bunch of dumb rubes on a fifth grade education while he leads us in thought.

Miller is either lying or terrible at math. Cut welfare to $0 and we still run a deficit well north of $1T. (unless we are cpu ting SS/Medi as “welfare”)

The same way DOGE and Tarriffs were going to balance the entire federal budget?

Our projected deficit for this year is about 2 trillion so even if he's right it still wouldn't balance the budget.

I’m too the point of preferring the mafia over FedGov. Less corrupt.

The National debt is over $39 Trillion with interest payments exceeding $1 Trillion annually. The Federal Gov't spends 1.1 Trillion annually on welfare and anti-poverty programs. Even if "all" welfare programs were eliminated, it would barely service the interest on the current National debt, assuming a balanced budget was passed yearly, henceforth. These clowns are such f...ing liars about everything...surprised so many non-retards on this board cannot see through the BS spouted daily by this administration. Btw, where's
T1 phone with the 11 stripped American flag ?

Don't ignore VA disability, either.

The problem is that depending on your point of view of the role of government, these can be wildly differing things.

Hence my question.

Unless he is defining fraud as any entitlement or claim then he’s full of shite.

While this needs to be curtailed for sure, it's a drop in the bucket compared to other mandatory spending programs such as medicare.

$193 billion vs $1.1 TRILLION.

And I'm not sure how much you could legitimately even eliminate from VA disability. There are of course people who abuse it, and they're the ones that get in the news, but there are tens of thousands of vets out there who more than deserve it.
