Only a denizen of Washington DC could believe that firing careerist bureaucrats is a fatal blow to the United States. Suicide by bureaucratic bloat is what our govt has been actively pursuing for the last five decades, Ms Rice.

I know the feeling. It's not pleasant being taken over from an educational family to a state department full-on politics and not knowing if you will be bext.

If Susan Rice says these people are essential, then I know we fired the right group!
Tell us which of their colleagues left behind are also essential, Susan!

There are still 79,000 employees at State, Miss YouTube Video.
Somehow, I think they'll manage without a few civil service bureaucrats.
But think of all the Colombian pedos who need funding for their drag show...

Soundgarden is leftist Seattle garbage. Surely you could conjure up a better band than that.
Thanks, but I’ll listen to the music that I want to. Do you have any examples of them being leftists, or are you just talking out of your arse because of “muh Seattle?”

Is she still an ambassador? If not, she needs to change that Twitter handle.

Can’t miss an opportunity to tie these useless bureaucrats to a Soundgarden lyric. Thanks, Susie.

Soundgarden is Chris Cornell, whatever is left of the band now is irrelevant but I have no doubt they probably leaned somewhat to the left, most grunge bands did

Typical leftist mentality supporting that there should be a strong, centralized government which takes care of everyone from cradle to grave. As such, those aren't "jobs", they are entitlements (the main goal of these jobs being to employ people, not to complete tasks).
The current debt is just over $37T and expected to be $10T more in just the next 4 years (meaning annual deficits averaging ~$2.5T, which is far more than the $1.8 we have now). That cannot be fixed through taxation because Congress has proven time and time again that they will spend more than they take in, regardless of the amount.
This means spending has to be addressed and one of those methods is cutting back on headcount, which will eventually mean cutting back on services offered by the federal government (regardless of whether they are legitimate or not).

A lot of administrations needs a big state departments but this one doesn’t. They run a very top down operation. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Pros and cons for each approach.

It's amazing how many people are in complete denial that we must and will have govt downsizing. Those people are financially illiterate or liars with bad intent. Jobs will be lost, services will be cut, dependency will be reduced, by force if necessary, because continuing on the current fiscal path is literally not an option.
