So what, exactly, is the problem with real federal spending cuts?

but the reality is we have to deal with the morons in the country who cannot handle abrupt change.
For crying out loud, a work requirement for Medicaid and eliminating the green new deal spending isn’t “abrupt change.”
If Trump can’t get behind those 2 very simple things, it tells you all you need to know.

What are you talking about? Those 2 things are in this bill that Trump is openly supporting.

I support cuts. I support a surplus. I support paying down our deficit to save the future of the country. Give me that and you'll have my support. Other than that you'll have my begrudging acceptance of the process, its results, and I'll deal with it. Meanwhile the deficit gets larger by the day and I definitely do not support that.
Hey I don't like it either, but we were never going to be able to cut everything immediately. Libertarians always lose because they cannot accept this reality.

Would Trump have the requisite moxy?

Exactly. The GOP reps in DC who are opposing this bill will be why nothing happens and they don't get anything they want. Not everyone else. Them.

It's now or never. The window is here for the next two years to actually shrink the govt and reduce the deficit. If we don't, we're fricked as a country. It's debt spiral hyperinflation soon. We're reaching debt as a percentage of gdp red line. We'll need to learn Mandarin. besset / trump beating the shite out of our worthless Republican Congress is the only hope.
China’s economy ain’t in much better shape, and economic depression or collapse would reverberate to China as well.
We would enter a worldwide Depression.
If we don’t fix this starting this term I agree - we are in a world of shite.

If Congress was willing to do its job? Absolutely. It's the Art of the Deal.

Wouldn't that be a reduction in spending of about $300B? Yes, that would be a substantial, immediate hit to the economy.
Lol. Enjoy the apocalypse.

The fact that the bill does nothing to address DOGE’s findings of fraudulent/wasteful spending (including USAID) leaves me with a really bad taste in my mouth. If I were a congressman, i would vote against it too.
Like others have said, i just wish the media would call out exactly which representatives were for more/greater spending and paint them as the bad guys, rather than the ones who are fiscally prudent

Glad a slogan is what’s important to you as the government recklessly spends our money year over year.

Running massive budget deficits is one of the few issues that enjoys broad bipartisan support.

What has Massie actually proposed?
I don’t believe he’s revealed any grand plan on cutting spending. Just that we should.
He liked doge. But that’s not him doing anything. Just agreeing we should cut some stuff.

It must be the weather tonight but I just upvoted every one of SFP posts. I actually agree with him on this and he is not being his condescending self.

How are we ever going to make America great again if we're running $1.5T deficits annually on our $35T debt? Or, hell, even $1T annual deficits.
I’ll answer the question from my other thread.
Spending cuts are actually great.
But all parts of government can’t have it. And this bill has absolutely ZERO spending cuts.

If the republicans were actually fiscally responsible as they’ve claimed for 30 years it would absolutely be simple.
Well that's a different subject. Both parties played a role in getting us here. But all that really matters is doing what's necessary to get out of the hole, and that will be prolonged and painful. In other words, neither our politicians nor the voters will do what's necessary.

it’s almost a guarantee the house will swing back to the DNC in 2026 meaning it’ll be investigations and impeachments all over again
If the D's do take over again, at least they'll put us out of our misery quicker by re-opening the borders, degrading the military and attacking Russia. Either way, the US dollar is the conduit for our fiscal disfunction now so the decline and fall will be chaotic.
