I have worked in education almost 30 years and believe me it is difficult to keep a level head around all these loons! I was raised a conservative and have remained a conservative throughout my tenure.
I find it hard to believe that working for the government, whether in education or another field doesn't make you turn towards conservatism when you see all the waste and sheer stupidity that happens every day. There is really no way to rationalize some of the decisions made by those in charge.
I just try and do the best job I can do in spite of those in charge. Luckly, retirement is right around the corner!

No, because there is no upside. Even if you win an argument, you are likely going to strain an important relationship. Family is more important than political opinions.

IRL debates with liberals are a lot of fun
I haven't found that to be true. What fun is it to debate someone whose entire position is indefensible by logic because it is dictated entirely by their emotions?

Since Trump was elected, I've had DOZENS of "oh so tolerant liberal friends" and some relatives that blocked me on facebook. So far, I've not blocked anyone. I love arguing with them because I have facts on my side.

He is gone buddy, let him go.
Lots of people like your friend are weak bleeding hearts that don’t see what’s happening and could care less the fabric of the country is being destroyed one seam at a time.

all this excessive spending is going to end poorly for them as well as nearly all Americans.
I would argue the "end" would be worse for most government employees because at least most people outside of government work produces something the general public would be willing to pay for...

I have a friend at work who is a black democrat religious CNN watcher and we argue all the time about politics. We both enjoy the discussion with no hard feelings. It’s been a little bit refreshing TBH.
I told him today, until you accept that mainstream media is an arm of the democrat party there’s no hope for him.

Lefties and "above the fray" concerned moderates love to make this claim about how silly it is to let politics ruin friendships, while at the same time either overtly or indirectly accusing everyone that doesnt agree with their social positions of being racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, anti-science, antisemitic, anti-muslim literal Nazi hate machines.
"based on my political positions, i truly believe you to be the literal scourge of the earth and evil defined, but let's not let politics come between us"

There are always those "men" who make the long walk away from the Light of individual liberty to the DARK maternalism of State coercion and control. The Nanny State appeals to those who need a nanny. These are usually man-boys who can no longer get an erection if their wife's boyfriend isn't in the room. Take him to Vegas, give him a cialis and get him laid, preferably by a woman with big blonde hair and enormous breasts, and he stands a 50-50 shot of regaining his senses.

That's too bad Rooster. The liberalism eats away the rational portions of you brain and it all becomes emotion.
You can't debate liberals because all they can do is call names and blow a gasket while using hyperbole. They have not logical response mostly because many liberal positions lack logic and is emotional.

How is he a journalist? He does not deal in facts he deals in fiction (according to his lawyers).
Also Pedo?

Fox News again moved to dismiss. The motion argues that when read in context, Mr. Carlson's statements "cannot reasonably be interpreted as facts"
Commentary immediately following factual statements are not themselves facts. They are commentary. That was the argument, not that the whole show is made up.
