Well what in his statement was not accurate?
I don't think imperatives can be accurate or not as they aren't statements of fact.

It was merely an example of someone vomiting their emotions up on the board.

I haven't found that to be true. What fun is it to debate someone whose entire position is indefensible by logic because it is dictated entirely by their emotions?

Simply use logic at a level they understand to refute their emotion. They become self aware of their weakness and give up. Most commonly: 'Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree.' And they never express their left wing opinions to you again because they don't want to get their arse whipped again.

Your "friend" likely enjoys sharing his wife and drinking IPA's. Or he's a woman. That's some shite women say.

Commentary immediately following factual statements are not themselves facts. They are commentary. That was the argument, not that the whole show is made up.

Oh but it was, the show is "exaggeration"

quote:

In light of this precedent and the context of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” the Court finds that Mr. Carlson’s invocation of “extortion” against Ms. McDougal is nonactionable hyperbole, intended to frame the debate in the guest commentator segment that followed Mr. Carlson’s soliloquy. As Defendant notes, Mr. Carlson himself aims to “challenge[] political correctness and media bias.” Def. Br. at 14. This “general tenor” of the show should then inform a viewer that he is not “stating actual facts” about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in “exaggeration” and “non-literal commentary.” Milkovich, 497 U.S. at 20-21; Levinsky’s, Inc. v. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., 127 F.3d 122, 128 (1st Cir. 1997)). Fox persuasively argues, see Def Br. at 13-15, that given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer “arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism” about the statements he makes.

Do you understand that his lawyers were using the Rachel Maddow defense. She had a case before the court and her lawyers argued that her show was not news and it worked for her so his lawyers used it like any good lawyer would.

Dude used to be super conservative, but I guess 15 years working for the government will turn the best of them.

I told him he sure has gotten a lot less tolerant now that he joined the party of tolerance.

How old is he?

I have not had one person I know who has gone from truly conservative to being a brain dead Dim. As a matter of fact I would say over the past 15-20 years I've seen nearly all my close family and friends, who were old school Democrats move to the decidedly right side of the political spectrum.

Typical liberal response. No logic, no arguments, just name calling.

I try to discuss politics and religion as fast as possible to determine who i spend my time with... plus it also leads to some serious entertainment.

Again, his comments of “extortion” were commentary, you can call hyperbolic sure. But they are commentary directly after the factual statement.

Besides, like someone else pointed out, this is a legal argument that has precedent so his lawyers would be stupid not to use it.

You are truly better off.

If your ex-friend is so willing to cast you aside for your political opinions, he has made you his enemy, and you didn't. But rest assured, they are not worth it. They are now eaten by cancer, and are a totally lost cause.

The party of tolerance, indeed. So funny, because THAT part of our 2 party dynamics have TOTALLY swapped places. Although, I get a clear and growing sense of intolerance towards the left from the right FINALLY these days.

Sounds like he couldn’t articulate a reasonable retort.

His only choices were to acknowledge your point and the cognitive dissonance that goes with being “wrong” or give up your friendship.

Guessing he either has a big ego or y’all weren’t very close anymore.

Simply ask him to answer the question. Ignore the obvious insult and if he dodges, inquire why he's too scared to answer.

He'll insult you again. I'll bet.

Stick to the issue and ask him about CNN interviewing Saddam. Remind him it's been done plenty of times before.

Also remind him, WE aren't in a war with Russia.
