Yea, but how is pricing everyone out going to help the landlords. Everyone will just leave. They won’t have a choice

The reason for the increase is due to new laws making it near impossible to raise rent on an existing tenant past a certain %. Those are new rents for new tenants.

Still stupid, but there's a reason for the madness.

Around the KC metro apartment rent prices have climbed at a minimum 20% since the Covid19 pandemic….that’s high inflation for KC. In downtown KC there are studio apartments (500 sq ft) going for $1200/month and higher…..that is not the all inclusive swanky apartments, if you want the 500 sq ft studio with all the amenities it’s $2k

Um..no.

who think happiness can be defined by their career…

I don't even think this. They think careers pay money and provide opportunities to advance and pay more money.

These economic opportunities do not exist in Rural Town, USA. Don't try to pretend that they do (or ever have).

Then they will takes what they have left (money) and go drive up the cost of living for a family in a suburb or small town somewhere…all along mocking them as unintelligent, unrefined, etc.

You seem to be very emotional about this.

I love the OT. How dare they not want to stay in your meth-infested rural shite hole!

I can't imagine why anyone would want to live in NYC. Paying that kind of money for an apartment and being surrounded by liberals sounds like abject misery.

Who gives a frick? If you don't like it, move. The property owners are not responsible in housing people, they are responsible to their bottom line.

You can list your house for sale for whatever outrageous price you want without anyone screaming about it.

It's not for me but I can 100% understand why it is for some people.

The idiots on here who say stuff like that show how dumb most of the posters on here are, now.

Every time I go to NYC I try to think if I could do it day-in, day-out and I just don't think I could. I would probably not enjoy enough of the stuff that makes the city worth it and I would never accept the annoyances and inefficiencies of major city living.

But big cities have an energy/aura and opportunities that can't be argued with. If you want a life without that energy/aura and you don't want the opportunities, then other options are fine. People on here really also forget just how shitty life is for the majority of people in these rural areas, hence why these areas are dying and what little population is left are overrun with drug addiction (which is tied to social things like lack of hope and negative social interactions among the population).

Rent must be going up because the space for business rent on the ground floors of these apartments are vacant and the landlords are trying to recover some money they have lost since covid drove everyone out of nyc. After they discovered they have been living in a shithole their whole life and paying out of the arse to do so, they aren't going back.

Your theory is rent is being driven up by falling demand?

Bruh, you are trying to explain the space shuttle to a infant chimpanzee, even if he was capable of understanding he would refuse to acknowledge it.

If nobody was willing to pay it, it wouldn’t be that high.

It’s not only rural. I’ve watched Atlanta transform into a crime-infested leftist craphole by these same people fleeing the high cost of living they made in the northeast and west coast for all of these “opportunities”. Now the same are fleeing into the nicer towns and cities in Florida, Tennessee and Alabama to do the same. All while sneering at the locals about how much better places like NYC are. It just isn’t a very logical process, but it usually ends up driving up costs and crime wherever they land.
