Still stupid, but there's a reason for the madness.

The reason is a disconnect with reality. The stupid fricks voting Democrat actually believe this:

Semantics. It’s adjacent, separated by a bridge.

its never worth it for most people.

But people still think they have to do it. Technology made the necessities of this kind of stuff obsolete.

You gotta take your shot…like any endeavor some make it, most don’t…and you get no shots in rural America…unless you’re the meth kingpin.

People are going back to the office and clearly rents are rising in NYC because people are moving back.

Your theory is rent is being driven up by falling demand?

Land lords can't rent out commercial space at the bottom of apartments. They are insane because most will not lower the cemm. rent. Those that do put in clauses that make sure the renters can't tell anyone their real rent.

The people renting a place to live become the only way for landlords to get more money. They are the only available target.

You are the kind of person that when someone says it’s 5:00, but it’s only 4:55… you correct them. Right?

The point of that poster is all of those addresses are in the same general geographical fricking area.

Stupid analogy, but I’m sure (at least I hope) you know that.

The reason you are seeing these hikes is that a year ago, May 1 2021 - the city was still quite deserted, people will still to a great extent working from home, and no place was hit more than Manhattan.

Your propensity to defend the indefensible is awe inspiring.

Now everybody remembers how comparatively dull the suburbs were and is rushing back in.

Yea. In the dull surburbs you had money to get out and spend time and dull places that just isn’t like New York.

Back in New York, you can sit in your 4,000 a month apartment because you have no extra cash, look outside at the concrete jungle, and tell everyone on social media how great New York City is.

So to make up for lack of renters you create more reasons not to rent.

Yeah, no one goes out in NYC. Why are so me of you so angry that some people may want to live in NYC for a while, particularly while they’re young?

If you can’t make money in rural America….. why are there people making good money in rural America?

“Huh… huh.. huh.. you make so much more in the city!” Yep. And you pay 4 times more for everything.

I thought they had rent control

I believe that only applies to existing residence. Like, once you get in they can't jack your rents up.

Look at the per capita GDP of these places and tell me how easy it is to be even moderately productive for people

Chicago is like 1/3 or 1/4 the cost of NY and has at least 2/3 of what NY has. Much better way to skin that cat if you need to try.
