Skipping the debates was a brilliant political move

He didn’t take the bait and get bashed by other republicans on stage that would’ve done nothing but hurt him. Imagine the venom in the questions that Fox News and other outlets would’ve asked him.

Now President Trump is completely unscathed and leading Biden in the polls.

And he could probably get Biden to agree to skip the debates for the general too

If I'm Trump I would skip those debates too. The moderators are always from the far left and ask biased loaded questions.

He is looking good where he stands now.

Truth. It was a setup. He was too smart and saw it coming from a mile away.

But it was more than just sidestepping a trap. He ended up making the others look like Junior Varsity. They were a punchline.

He needs to challenge Biden to a debate a month and just smear the stage with that bumbling potato.

Was never going to be a debate just a well coordinated bashing from both candidates and panelists.

Just like there are no independents. You’re voting for Trump or Biden.

Yea I don’t see a need to debate at this point

Biden and Trump are known quantities

Bidens handlers will give him his high dose of adderrall and the All the moderators are going to do is to try and put abortion at the forefront and trip Trump up

I would absolutely skip it

Biden ain’t debating, they will hide him with every excuse imaginable, and probably blame Trump, like every other one of their failures…

The bigger reason is the hours of text that would be turned into out of context lies by the ads in the general election.
IE, if Tim Scott made an argument against him and Trump responded with: "Well, that's just stupid because...."
The Dem ads this fall would say: "And in the debates Donald Trump said that black people are stupid!"

There would be about 150 years combined up on that stage. There won't be any debates.

Will it be brilliant when Biden skips the debates?

Not to mention him just letting Bidens policies speak for themselves are the easiest path to winning the few swing voters out there who are still reachable.

Unless there is a debate moderated by Tucker Carlson and/or Joe Rogan, Trump should pass.

If you are running for president you shouldn't be skipping debates. I don't care if Trump had a big lead or not. If you are so confident in your policies and decisions you should be able to face questions.
It denies true debate on the issues that the voters are interested in.

Was it beneficial for him to skip? Absolutely. Why is that? Because he wouldn't have to face questions over shutting the country down, continued spending and helicopter money for the entire country?

I'm voting for Trump but he should be able to handle debates and face questions about his spending, covid etc.

Here are all the reasons Trump should not debate under the current system. We are better off agreeing to Rachel Maddow moderating one debate, and Tucker Carlson the other. As it is, it has been largely one-sided for the last 40 years.

You don't think the leader of the free world should be able to handle that?
