If climate change takes out Chicago, odds are cities like NYC and LA are doomed as well. Looking outside the US Beijing and Shanghai don’t stand a chance.
Too late now, just have to see what happens. Oh well.

More fear porn. Pay your carbon tax bitches.

I’m sure the huge buildings and ever fatter people are having no impact.

You mean like the climate change that has decimated the Louisiana marshes due to the climate man dredging? That kind of climate change?
It's like those mosquito forests in New Jersey where the salt water has killed the trees. Guarantee it has a man made component to from some sort of construction long ago. But, climate change is the go to scam..

Climate change is warming the world above and below ground,
Is this study brought to us by the same folks that said the coastal areas would be flooded by now?

Literally. No. Place. They. Won't. Go.
NASA reports earths heat sink due to climate change is bringing the Moon closer which will eventually cause dire situations that are beyond calculation.
Here's proof to that story
The Cretaceous period was warmer than it is now and look what it f@cking did to the continents. OMFG

So, the researcher is a prof in Chicago and he decided to do this global disaster study where? In his back yard.
Exactly. Because he measured something in A city for the last 5 years or so, that necessarily must mean it's happening everywhere.
quote:
Over the past few years, researchers put in a wireless network of over 150 above and below-ground temperature sensors around the Chicago Loop, an area in the city's downtown.
This included placing sensors in the basements of buildings, subway tunnels, underground parking garages and subsurface streets.
“We used Chicago as a living laboratory, but underground climate change is common to nearly all dense urban areas worldwide,” Rotta Loria said. “And all urban areas suffering from underground climate change are prone to have problems with infrastructure.”
Because he said so!

bullshite,, many of these cities near water are built on sandy. Surfaces, which is not good for weight.
St.louis had a ton of caves underneath, and a sand based surface bevaus of river. Of course it's going to buckle, I'm shocked more road haven't just buckled into a cave or sink hole. We live near a cave system, and I'm fighting sink holes. Fill, fill, fill, fill. Year in year out
U don't think Chicago, Memphis, etc are having issues or expect some big buckles I. Future

I’m sure it has nothing to do with the void of maintenance to repair infrastructure. These people are idiots
Glacioeustatic rebound is Still a thing in Scandanavia, could there be something in Chicago ties to the deflection of rainfall away from replenishing ground water and the dewatering of the more permiable sediments (like the clays removed on the south side in the huge quarry there?

Underground climate change is a silent hazard,” said Northwestern University’s Alessandro Rotta Loria, who led the study. “The ground is deforming as a result of temperature variations, and no existing civil structure or infrastructure is designed to withstand these variations."

quote:And let’s not forget that one of the necessary conditions for AGW to work is that the ground is warm wr than the air. I’m sure the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics were created by white men,l who were part of the patriarchy… so they’re pretty much invalid and we can ignore them.
so a 1 degree (or whatever bs they claim) increase is causing unground, below frost line, to warm up so much that infrastructure fails?

It's not sinking, the oceans are rising. Isn't that the narrative.

Does he mean "subsidence" due to the soil regeneration circuit being broken by over-construction? Notice how that doesn't sound quite as scary...
