Yes. Immediately. I'll add that we need to close all foreign military bases and reopen the ones we've closed here.

No. But we should continue to pressure the European countries to increase their defense spending and capabilities
The other NATO nations need to do their part to resist the Warsaw Pact and Soviet aggression.

Even with Reagan as president, we can't do it alone.

yes

The Warsaw Pact no longer exists, NATO has outlived it's usefullness, and the nature of warfare that existed when NATO was created no longer applies

The further we move away from World War II, the more people will think that shite like withdrawing from NATO makes sense, because they're spoiled and can't personally remember real strife and real war.

That statement seems more apt for our supposed NATO allies, most of whom seem to actively work against the U.S. presently.

Only Hungary, Italy, and Poland seem truly aligned anymore.

I don't think that we need to. I think we control it, so make it into what we need.

Redeploy to USA and eliminate US troops in EU.

If the EU host country wants US to continue our presence there, they need to pay 80% of our CAPEX and OPEX cost.

We need to withdraw from the United Nations first. Those assholes held Americans who were kidnapped in Gaza by Hamas in the UN compound full well knowing they were there.

Nah, but holding others accountable to a feasible amount per their GDP makes the most sense or they are out.

It's win win for us and them.

NATO is the reason for the Ukraine war and why DC never ended the cold war. NATO can't exist without warmongers keeping Russia a perpetual enemy.

Funfact, people are waking up to this, hence no support for DC's Ukraine folly.

100%

Plus, we - the USA - essentially subsidize their welfare states.

NATO should have ended when the USSR dissolved.

The US is basically NATO. We are the enforcement behind it. If we pull out there is no NATO.

Does anyone think Albania or Latvia is worth fighting WWIII over?

Because as it stands, NATO membership means an attack on those countries is equivalent to an attack on the UK or Germany.

That sounds stupid to me.

but because of that, no one will attack those smaller nations as it is the same as an attonce directly on the US and other NATO countries.....

the whole purpose of NATO was to prevent another European war, and it has worked as far as members..... had Ukraine been in NATO, no war. Same reason Sweden and Norway are now members.....

Absolutely. There is no justification for the continued involvement of the US. NATO was formed to head off the threat of the USSR and its Warsaw Pact members in the post-war era. The Soviet Union was a country of 360+ million people during the Cold War. It is now half that size. It has also lost the assistance of its former Warsaw Pact allies. In fact, some of those countries are now arrayed against her. Western Europe, which was weakened after the war, is now markedly stronger than Russia. Western Europe has a larger population/economy/manufacturing base/technological edge than Russia. They can handle their own collective defense
