Stop with the bullshite spin. You keep making it sound like they're losing this paycheck entirely.

Well call up ole Chuck and Nancy and tell them to appropriate the funds for the border wall. You know, like they did when Obama was in office.

Hey dummy...

How about should the Secret Service stop responding to bank robberies? Yeah, you probably didn't know SS is the lead agency on bank robbery or forgery of cash did you? SS has a slew of jurisdictional seniorities not often mentioned.

I'm not confused. You misinterpreted the OP. The justification I keep seeing is we don't need the employees not getting paid now. We can do without them.
You keep seeing claims that essential federal employees are nonessential? Where are you seeing that?

This is a terrible statement to begin with, but Presidents pay for their own food unless it is a state dinner.

The American taxpayers aren't picking up the bill for the presidential beers. Aside from official state functions, the president pays for his own groceries at the end of every month.

The WH living quarters are 9000 sq ft. Even at the high end of yearly maintenance which includes the yards and gardens, it costs around $260,000 to cover the costs of the living quarters (low end is $123,000). If Trump was allowed by law, he would be taking no salary. So, if it was up to Trump, the country would actually come out ahead in the deal.

No, you don't. You think the SS protecting the President is nonessential personnel?

Are you simple or something?
Where did I say the SS was nonessential? I said the justification is we don't need the employees who are not getting paid. There are essential employees, SS included, who are not getting paid. It is being justified that everyone not getting paid is not needed.

I think there are a large # of employees who are "nonessential" right now in the fedgov that are not needed. But, i'm not a nanny stater, like yourself. And nonessentials going 3 weeks without a paycheck is fine with me, if it means stronger border security.

Which ones. Name their positions. What are their jobs, who are they protecting, what are they protecting?

Again, see above.

An internet search can provide all the info you're looking for. It's not hard to find.

I don’t know of the SS is getting paid or not. I do know several SS guys (haven’t talked to them recently to know pay situation) I can tell you they would still work and they also are responsible enough to go without pay a cycle or two.

Especially given the fact they will get paid it’s just a matter of when.
