Should Americans be allowed to easily own the same weapons as law enforcement?

Yes, no, maybe?
This would apply to Americans in Louisiana, Minneapolis, Kansas, Chicago, everywhere.

Full auto is our birth right

Of course. Although I’m not really sure what law enforcement has that isn’t easily available to civilians in most states outside of liberal havens. Maybe flashbangs?

Yes.
A law should be passed that law enforcement cannot legally possess weapons or other equipment not available to the general public (subject to exceptions for felons, insane, etc.)

There are a capped number of full autos that can be owned by civilians due to the closed registry.

Do you have a hole in your boat too?

Sounds like a subjective and unworkable standard regardless of where you fall on guns.

How many LE agencies are even using full auto rifles?

Yes. But patrol units typically only carry the same weapons we have access to if you exclude flash bangs. 9mm, semi auto AR and 870s. We can have all those here at least.
SWAT usually is the only unit that carries fully auto variants of the AR platform.

Burst counts legally.

I’ve never worked with an agency that allows patrol to use full auto. Only SWAT.

Yes. A law abiding citizen should be able to walk into a gun store and purchase a full auto firearm — cheap.
The term ‘allowed’ is infuriating to me. It’s frankly none of the government’s or law enforcement’s business if a I own a machine gun. Period.

Americans should be able to own nuclear tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles if they can afford them. “Shall not be infringed.” No exceptions, no limits.

At the very least, we should be allowed to own better weapons than the criminals.
