I wonder when he will he be eligible for parole?

I’d guess he will have to serve at least 85% of that.

ETA….Whoopsie, guess I missed part of the sentence. shite: it happens.

What do you mean?

They are eligible for parole at half their sentence served OR 30 years, whichever is less.

Dang that’s great. That’s probably about max for this particular case I would imagine.

Damn. I was thinking 20. Wow

Funny thing, I bet he wishes he had an all white jury right about now.

But that’s only 17.5 years for murder. He’ll be a free man on the streets again in my lifetime.

I am shocked, pleased, and hope the Metcalf family sleeps a little better tonight than they did last night.

To the great state of Texas- y'all delivered. God bless.

Why would you do VISs after the sentencing?

Best case scenario is death.

There is no guarantee he will serve a lesser sentence. I’m sure his family will be present at every single parole hearing. It’s just my opinion, but I believe the fact that there were so many women on the jury who are likely mothers kept him from serving in 99 years. Also, just my opinion, he deserve to die.

Fair enough. But realistic. This is about best case scenario.

I think they had an opportunity to speak in between verdict and sentence- they chose not to.

But, yeah... VISs would make more sense before sentencing in my perfect world.

Gotcha. Same. Unfortunately that was precluded by his age at the time of offense. Sadly.

I'm not gonna pay attention to those. Too sad. I feel bad enough for his brother.
