Good gosh they are dumb out there.

1. Pretty much will not survive legal challenge. They cannot force a private business to lose money or stay open.

2. All this will do is prevent any new one businesses from coming in.

3. During the legal challenge period, just go to essential bare bones. Minimal groceries, hours and staff.

Yet you want to go back to the politicians that ushered this in.

Yes.

Just make it a clearance store for almost out of date and damaged goods, like Dirt Cheap or Ollies.

FOOD DESERTS!!

Yeah, because you always steal shite and force them to move. Stop stealing them into insolvency and they'll stick around.

They can always just open their own stores. I'm sure Soros, Obama and Meathead would pitch in.

They can sell what they want, pay what they want and show the rest of the world how smart they really are.

San Francisco is proud of what they've done with shoplifting. That goes out the window if a lot of the easy to steal from stores close down, though.

The city will take over the stores and "allow" shoplifting. It'll be a transfer of wealth from the taxpayers to the people that don't pay for their groceries. Socialized food.

First thought upon reading this thread was that this sounds like how East Germany locked down when people wanted to leave. Within a short period it was a prison, the tax payers being slaves to the government, unable to freely leave and live/invest elsewhere.

Anyone want to take a guess as to how you make sure grocers never open up a store again within your municipality?

San Fran is just a third world country that put some lipstick on.

They're also kicking around means-tested electricity bills and heavy taxes on the sales of luxury homes to keep their wealthy citizens (their tax base) from selling and moving to Texas or Florida.

IIRC, they have been trying to institute a “wealth tax” by demanding income taxes from people who have left the state for quite some time.

It is the equivalent of speed cameras / red light cameras in most of Louisiana…. Unenforceable, but they try to harass you into compliance.

I am shocked California is not deliver service groceries only . It’s going to be the future their. The Kroger model they have in Florida would work great in California. Large warehouse using ammonia and deliver all groceries. It gets away from the state allowing shop lifting and have strict grocery store refrigerant requirements.
